I wish I had read the reviews before my family and I ordered from here. The food is not terrible, but it’s not the greatest either. We were visiting Stone Mountain and on our way back home we wanted to try something delicious. This place was recommended by a friend for the Mac n cheese. We had the fried chicken and baked turkey wings with Mac n cheese, black eyed peas, Lima beans, and cornbread. It was decent, however the fried chicken tasted like it was fried with the same flour/cornmeal they use for the fish. Mac n cheese was good and my kids enjoyed it. Black eyed peas tasted like it was cooked with pickle juice or too much pepper or something. The most disappointing thing is that I placed an order online to pick up at a certain time and I still had to wait about 45 minutes for my food to be ready. There’s more that I can say, but I’ll leave you with this: if you’re looking for something home cooked , delicious and worth the wait, this is not the place to come.
I booked We Got Soul for celebration dinner in June of 2021 and man, did they deliver!!!! First they were on time with the delivery as a matter of fact they were early. We ordered a variety of food to accommodate the different dietary restrictions and every person I asked after the fact about their meal all said the food was great!!!! That is saying a lot! We were able to place the order online (via ezcater) and have it delivered to our desired location. I would definitely recommend this business if you have are hosting a meal and you just want to provide a good meal without cooking it yourself!
I tried the restaurant for the first time today 5/16/2021. I had a 3 veggie plate mac and cheese was good, the cabbage was good and the yams was good as well. I also got a salmon crochet which, was more bread than salmon. Customer service was good also. I gave them 3 stars because my plate was very light and I was still hungry afterwards.
The peach cobbler was the best! I also had an entree. You need the patience of Job for the wait. The staff is very nice and apologetic about the wait. They seemed short staffed that day. I dont go often so I am not sure if it is due to the weekend and pandemic impacting staffing. Really nice people though and that always make good taste better too. :)
Decided to go here with my wife just to grab something to eat. We had never been here before and Im glad we stopped. The food was really good. It was well seasoned and reasonably priced. The baked chicken was excellent! If youre looking for a good soul food restaurant, put this one on your list!
Me and my family went here. It’s bland compared to one on Herrington. The dressing is a grease ball w/ no flavor. The lemonade is $4+ and has way too much sugar in it. Overall it’s Definitely Not what we expected. Do not recommend.
Service was extremely slow tonight. Food was not what was expected. Mac and cheese was runny and simply wasnt throughly prepared or good.
Food is okay . The Mac and chesse sucks. Please find someone with a new recipe. If you order fried food they make the side first so when you get your fried meat , your sides are cold. You might want to rethink eating here and the attitudes are questionable. Freshly fried pork chops were cold and I waited 25 minutes for them. Overall not happy with the food or service.
My 4 Veggie Plate was delicious. The green beans were too salty for me, but otherwise I enjoyed my food. We definitely eat here again.
As a 1st timer, the customer service was superb!!! The food on the other hand was not what I expected for $20... The cornbread dressing was extremely sweet and a bit too soft. The collards were just as sweet and didn’t seem cleaned. The Mac & Cheese was bland.Turkey Wings over cooked. The potato salad I actually enjoyed.... I’m convinced DeKalb is not the place for soul food.......
This was the worst soul food ive ever tasted. Bland taste, baked chicken not done all they way. Server screaming at me like I cant hear. Not on my plate was acceptable
Terrible customer service. If you tell a person their order will take 20 to 30 minutes and it takes over an hour that’s a problem. Then we they inquired about the time was told an additional 15 minutes. After an hour they asked for a refund only to be met with a terrible attitude by the male and female working the counter.Then she points to a sign that says no refunds offered. That’s horrible customer service and a terrible policy. Especially when the food isn’t superb.The fact that you have issues with the ability to produce the food you’re taking orders for isn’t the patrons fault. This isn’t a place I would spend my money.Customer service is everything. If you weren’t met with an attitude why give someone an attitude because of your failure to plan properly.Do better.
We Got Soul is one of the best restaurant’s in Stone Mountain! The food is always fresh never over cooked and the service is always top notch! The owners always go above snd beyond to ensure you are taken care of. I love it, I cant wait to go back!
The food was delicious and prices were reasonable but the staff...whew! We happened to go in on a day when they were experience a rush in business. When we arrived about 6 people were sent outside to wait and there were about 10 people inside. I won’t go through the entire scenario however when we initially called our order in they told us that it would be ready in 30 minutes which was cool because we had about a 30 minute drive to get there. But after our 30 minute drive to pick up our food...we had to wait an additional 40 minutes before we got our food! I guess they are just tired or just not used to dealing with a large crowd because it was VERY unorganized...many people ended up leaving! And they just stopped taking phone calls and Uber Eats orders...again the food was delicious But their staff definitely needs improvements
We used them to provide catering to our lunch at Emory University, and they provided great service. They arrived on-time and the food was well packed for delivery. The food was very hot and well seasoned. Everything was great. We ordered: smothered chicken, fried catfish, yams, Mac & Cheese, green beans, collard greens, and cornbread. Everything was great. We will be using them again in the future.
This was my first time and NEVER again. DO NOT waste your money. I order door dash as I could not leave my office I had many other options for chicken but wanted something really good besides fast food spots (at least I thought so)and My chicken was extremely hard and salty taste like it was cooked in fish fry or old grease idk.. mac n cheese was dry..only thing that was ok was the store bought dinner rolls. Im usually not the picky type but nothing about my meal was good. I am very disappointed!! I always check reviews to make my decision and they werent very good but I thought maybe its just what they had.. I cant go wrong with chicken/greens/mac with a name like we got soul right... boy was I wrong...believe the reviews!!!!Dont do it!!!!

The little ugly critter behind the register was very nast to me and my date on Valentines Day 2021. Her service was cliche, angry, rude, disrespectful and loud. I immediately cancelled our order. We walked out and went to Rodneys Jamaican and Soul Food in Smyrna, a top notch restaurant. 40 minutes away. We got souls is not a restaurant; its a whole in the wall. Not a place for a date on any day of the week. Definitely not V day. We were trying something new and decided to at least check it out because it is listed as a BOB and we support 🤛🏿but we got soul did not earn my money today. They may never have the opportunity do so.
Food was good for a Sunday not having to cook! I ordered 5 plates, bake chicken & turkey wings. The mac & cheese is good. The corn bread muffins are Magnificent! Turkey wings were gigantic & tough. I use to the meat falling off the bone. Cabbage was kinda bland but overall decent meal. I guess its fairly priced. Service was friendly. Small eatery w/a wall of fame. Small portions but they do deliver. I usually have pics but i totally forgot w/this meal.
First off I asked them what they suggested the fried chicken or the fried fish and they said the fried fish. How are you a soul food restaurant and the chicken not as good as the fish??? I ordered the catfish fillets with collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and corn muffin. I spent $18 too over priced the food was mediocre at best. The fish fillets were small for the price. The servings are what you would feed a toddler. The corn bread was served cold. Then I wanted to dine in but they made a mistake and put my food in a to go box then took it out. They were doing too much and not enough all at the same time. I over heard other people complaining about the baked chicken being dry. The only good thing was the pineapple mango lemonade.
Ate there today. Everything was GOOD. & the ladies in the front had good customer service. I ordered fried chicken, Mac & cheese, greens & cornbread!
We ate their food a couple of years ago and it wasnt very good. HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!! We ordered a baked turkey wing and pork chops. Finger licking good! Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Order the Mango lemonade for a real tasty treat.
Me and my boyfriend went for dinner and I was so disappointed. The people working were friendly, but the food blah. He got fried fish and I got fried chicken, that was amazing. The mac & cheese was bad, the potatoes were bad and the green beans tasted like they came straight from a can. It took us 45 minutes to get our food and poor girl working kept saying 4 minutes but that isnt what happened. We got our onion ring appetizer 20 minutes after we got our food. My boyfriend got okra for a side and that also came out 20 min after we got our food. The meat was hot and delicious but the sides for ice cold! If I were to go back I would only order meats then make my own sides or get them elsewhere. KFC has better mac and cheese.
Had been going here for years trying to look over theyre service because theyre the closest soul food place but theyre staff is rude, slow, and theyre store manager and district manager who chose not to give theyre name (T or something) claiming to be manager was just as rude. They gave me the wrong order recently and they decided to talk over me yell and say theyre not gonna fix it. I had enough of theyre lack luster customer service
SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY if you want to have an enjoyable experience!Ive visited this establishment off and on for a couple yrs now. The food is pretty good but just not the place youd want to frequent if youre hungry because they are EXTREMELY frugal with the portion size. Ive recommended friends who said the same thing.Whats equally disappointing if not more, are the staff. They have replaced them many times but the lady with red braids and the man who prepares the plates are the worse theyve ever had.Its a dark gloomy feeling from the moment that you walk in the door. The Christian music is playing but the vibes were contrary to say the least!I ordered my food and was asked to return in 25 min. While waiting in my car I began my google review since this was the 2nd visit and I realized that the couple working werent having a bad day the last time and that this rude behavior was normal for them.When I returned at the requested time i then was asked to wait outside again with 2 other guys. When I went back again the guy was preparing my food. I noticed that he was constantly moving his wet mask around on his face with his gloves. He then placed the cornbread on a piece of paper with his hand and not the utensil provided. I asked him to remove the bread and use the tongs. He reluctantly did. I asked him to change the other piece on the 2nd plate and He said No he wouldnt. After I insisted he put the tray on top of the glass and very scoldingly told me to to change it myself! He started cursing at me and loosing his temper. I told him that it was nasty for him to touch our food with his hand that was touching the wet spot on his mask! I also told him that he was very unprofessional. He said that no one else had a problem with it. He cursed and yelled some more at me in front of the rest of the customers.This is a shame! THE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR AN ESTABLISHMENT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO MAKE OR BRAKE YOUR BUSINESS!Im glad for google reviews. This is only my 2nd review ever. The good reviews could only be from friends and not genuinely express honesty.I just feel that the potential consumers sholud have this infoENTER AT YOUR OWN RISKS
TERRIBLE 🤷🏻♀️They get a 1/2 star for the fresh fried okra.. The food was not good at all..Over seasoned or very bland. Items were not in bag I paid for as they substituted without my knowledge l & let’s talk about those pitiful ribs🤦🏻♀️ I even ordered the “extra” because I was shocked they give you 2 bones as I was told & they were the size of my pinky finger with more fat than anything. Barely any sauce on them,no seasoning & The macaroni was dry as a brick...I ordered fish & even the fish was smaller than the palm of my hand. PLUS the portion sizes are laughable as they could barely feed a toddler!! It was such a disappointment that I wasted money here...If this is the type of “Soul Food” that Georgia has to offer ITS A BIG NO FOR ME..
Not many soul food places in the area. However, this one is pretty good. Customer service & order efficiency need to be improved greatly. They need more staff on weekends to handle the high demand. They are going to tire those workers out. The restaurants name is going to be “We HAD soul” if they don’t fix those major serving glitches within the staff.I saw allot of unsatisfied customers walk out due to a long wait. Sunday 7/12/20In my opinion, you should come early on the weekends. Sunday’s are the worst wait in line days. It’s much better coming during the week day. They can handle the demand much better.
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!! I’ve been coming here since they opened in 2012 and I’m still in love! The people will make you feel like you’ve walked into grandma’s kitchen, they’re so nice! I’ve came in here after a horrible day and walked out smiling ear-to-ear. Not to mention the food is AMAZING and filling. Try the Mac next to some yams or potato salad and you won’t regret it. Absolutely splendid 10/10 recommended.
It was crowded as they shut down service at 7 on Sunday. The wise folks had called in there order. We had planned to dine in but then my mother wanted a meal so we ordered it to go. It didnt speed up the process of coming out though. In spite of the wait, the food was delicious and I will definitely dine here again.It is not easily viewed from the road and is between the Ruby Tuesday and an auto shop in a recessed shopping center. I am glad we drove around and found it because the food was well seasoned and tasted delicious. I am picky about eating soul food because no one can top my Aunt Deans cooking! It was good though and we will definitely be back!
This is the second batch of turkey wings that got a low approval rating due to the dryness and hardness of the turkey meat. Not tender at all. I took this wing from a to-go plate. First time ordered was for a friend and he immediately requested a refund because they were the worst he had. Ive had some bag turkey servings and this one compares to the terrible dry turkey parts served to me as a child that made me hate whole turkeys on the pagan holiday Thanksgiving day. It was a struggle to chew and to separate from the bone. The flesh was dry, slightly discolored. The only decent side was the macaroni and cheese. Dont ever get green cabbage, green beans and black eye peas. All overcooked. Not worth the money or the time to suffer eating it. Maybe things are better if you inspect the foods first and get there early to get the fresher batches, but I do think at least one worker is unsanitary in dealing with the food. Not all I hope. If you believe in God, ask God to help you learn to cook and from where to buy food to avoid what Ive experienced.

This is my third visit and each and every time Ive been met with great customer service, and left with amazing food. The entrees are made to order, and can take some extra time, so call ahead. Its totally worth the wait!
My husband and I ordered our food from here yesterday - absolutely wondeful experience with everything! Placed an order and got a call later from an employee about one of the menu items not being available at that time and she was so sweet and helpful with finding a new option. We ordered several things, and while all were great; I have to say the mac and cheese and the “we got soul” wings are some of the absolute best of those kinds of items we have ever had. The perfect blend of flavors. Can’t wait to try other things sometime! Thanks We Got Soul! It was exactly what we were hoping for ☺️
Ordered peach cobbler for dessert. My favorite dessert. I like to taste it from different places. I tasted it and I wanted to spit it out. It was too greasy. I had to drain the butter juice off. It was still greasy when I ate it again. I looked in the mirror and my lips were glossy from it. Please taste it before serving. The only upside was my lips werent dry anymore. The dinner that I got was Ok, wish I had more meat though.
The restaurant is very family friendly the employees are always enthusiastic and very pleasant. The food is amazing my favorite is the meat loaf Mac n cheese and garlic mash. As well as the fried tilapia and catfish. I recommend this place to everyone for some good mouth watering soul food and love.

2/27/2021 was my first visit ordered a veggie plate the worst food I have ever tasted bc I couldn’t eat it. The plate leaked all over my car bc it was full of fake pot liquor from the vegetables. The greens were not seasoned, the squash had to much oregano or something, the Mac and cheese was horrible, and the Green beans were cooked with the right seasoning and had real pot liquor. I actually tasted it and decided to eat the green beans and cornbread when I got home but the fake pot liquor wet my bread so I trashed it all...... money just waisted.
I visited the area from NC a couple of weekends ago. I googled soul food restaurants near me and We Got Soul popped up. The visit was a success. The staff was nice and answered any questions I had. After I ate I wanted to try the fried chicken. I was informed it would be 15 minutes because its cooked fresh. The piece I ordered was delicious. I highly recommend them
First time I believe to have given a 5 🌟 but second time trying this place and my food was not up to par. I paid extra $1.50 for my turkey wings to be over rice and gravy and got dry rice. Small portion of mac and cheese with a brick hard roll. I hadnt eaten all day so I was ready to eat delicious soul food. I left yall a tip and now I feel betrayed. Never again.

I have visited there a few times the first time was great . The second time food was good but we were celebrating my daughters birthday and we brought a cake in one of the waitresses asked me if we were going to share I told her my daughter bought it so I couldnt say. Then they told us we couldnt bring a cake there we had to buy there sweets. I have never been to a place you couldnt bring a cake for a birthday. Then I decided much later to try it again on a Sunday I order one fried chicken white meat dinner and one white meat with gravy was disappointed because they put two chicken wings in each box where they use to put one breast and one wing. I didnt see it until I got home and my husband opened the dinner I bought him. Now it taste great but thats not a regular white meat dinner. They have great food but need to be a little more concern about the customers that support their business.
I ate here today actually. They gave good portions and had excellent customer service. The meatloaf was good so was the Mac and cheese. Collards bland and nasty corn nasty idk how you get corn wrong. Mashed potatoes watered down and tasted like they didn’t wash the potatoes first. Overall I won’t go back
My roommate and I consider ourselves, We Got Soul Day Ones! Weve been customers since they FIRST opened. The food is amazing, but the people make it that much better. Im not as available to come as often as I used to, but when I do Im never disappointed and its always a pleasure seeing Cola and her beautiful smile. I am a forever customer.
Go there at least twice a week for lunch, the food is very good. Mac & cheese is home made, cabbage season good not over cook & the cornbread melt in you mouth! Food season right, I went to a lot of soul foods spots in Atlanta an I got to say We Got Soul is one of the best tasting soul food restaurants in Atlanta. But dont take my word for it come an taste for yourself!
I came in and there is only one register. I waited about 15 minutes for the young lady to take my order (she was really nice). However, afterI sat down and waited had to ask server for my drink after sitting for 20 minutes. The customers that were in front of me (maybe group of 4 or 5), they received their food and I still had not received mine. The server and someone else checked on me and I reminded them that I still had not received my food. Something about the system went down and I my order was erased.That’s fine, accidents happen; but the place is very small and you can see me sitting here with my kid and no food for an hour. I asked for a refund. They said my food was coming out but I was ready to go by this time. (The people that came 30 minutes after me were getting their food. They offered to give me my one pork chop but not the sides. If they wanted to make this right they should have offered the whole meal for free. I declined the pork chop. I won’t be back.
I ordered the catfish and shrimp entree. The catfish was decent but the shrimp was cooked so hard you needed water to wash it down. It took a long time to get my order and then when I opened it up to eat It, I discovered I didnt get everything I ordered. This was my first time going there. This may not have been the norm for them, but I would have second thoughts about going back.
Got soul but not flavors. I gave me the wrong side and NO cornbcornbread. Got the baked Turkey wings smothered over rice with collard greens and supposed to be candied yams but received macaroni instead. The macaroni was good and everything else had no flavor.
I just had lunch there for the first time and the food is amazing!! The greens were so tender and very flavorful. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The customer service was great. I did not have to wait long for my food and the staff was very friendly!If you have never eaten there, please do yourself a favor and go. You will not regret it.
Trying this for the first time... The Mac and cheese was nasty and the black eye peas was bland with no taste. What I did like was the meatballs in gravy over rice(supposed to been cube steak 🤔). Wife had baked chicken that was dry and looked like it had been sitting for a while.. corn bread was good as well. Ill stick to my regular spot for soul food... Just stick to what you know 💯
Food was okay. Servers were handling personal stuff(asked a customer to look at their car because the light wouldnt go out. One server(went out to show the custer) while trying to serving. Customers who had ordered online still waited along time. Need a least three people . One to serve, take orders, take payment. Cross contamination when handling the register and fixing food and touching other items.
I’ve been going to We Got Soul since it opened years ago and the food has always been excellent. Last week I went in and got Salisbury steak, Lima beans and black eyed peas and that was hands down the best meal I’ve ever eaten. It’s always good but this day it was so extra good I had to say something. If you’ve been there then you know. If you haven’t you’re missing out. Great staff too!
I had the Salmon cakes. The food was edible. Very small portions. The collard green and Salmon were bland but the mac & cheese was fine. Excellent place for Seniors or anyone who has to cut back on salt.
I ordered fried chicken, collards, yams and macaroni and cheese. I just finished vomiting all of it up! The food was terrible and the disposition of the lady taking the order was worse than terrible. She didn’t smile nor did she have a smile in her voice! She acted like we were doing her a favor by eating there!
This restaurant has terrible time. I went for the 2nd time and gave them double the time they quoted me to have my food ready. Then it still wasnt ready. I asked for a refund and they said the dont give refunds. I see why there avg rating is so low.
Food was great, prices are reasonable. I would give them five stars except we paid for a extra side and got home and it wasnt in the bag. Other than that excellent place to go just check your food order before you leave the establishment
This place is awesome! The veggies are cooked without meat so I was super excited to try them being a part time vegetarian. Who would have ever thought a SOUL food restaurant would cook veggies without meat! There was no way I could mistake those greens for the Glory brand. I am from Ohio but raised by a mother and grandmother who were both born and raised in Georgia so I can pretty confidently say that the greens I had were definitely not from a can. Lucky me I guessSince the first time, I have been hooked. I often swing by to pick up dinner for the family and have even allowed them to cater a few events. Their service is impeccable.Oh and once again...the greens are....off the chain.....da bomb....slap yo momma good......all that! Do yourself a favor and check them out for yourself.PS. The hubby loves the FRIED turkey wings. Ive never tried them but should I ever become a meat eater again, they will be one of the first things I go for.
We waited 75 minutes for our seven meals and portions was were cold, some items were missing. The server was apologetic, however when asked to speak to the manger no one ever showed up. We are international travelers and wanted to support a black-owned business, but we were totally disappointed. I do not recommend this restaurant.
The food was ok. I had the fried lemon pepper turkey wing with mac and cheese and collards. My husband had the salmon croquettes with yams and rice. It wasnt bad but it wasnt particularly good. It would have been nice to get free refills on tea and lemonade. I wont make a return trip.

Service with an attitude. Small food portion size for the price. No refills on your drinks. Ordered the mashed potatoes.. $0.50 for gravy. Took forever to get our food and it was incomplete and wrongs sides. The food is not even tasty! WE WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN and I wouldnt recommend it for even a dog treat🤬
The manager is nasty and has no customer service! I had picked up an order for Uber and there was a gallon drink that was with the order. Due to the restaurant providing cheap plastic tops for their gallon drinks, on my way to deliver the order the drink fell over and spilled all over my car. Myself being the great person I am, brought the drink back because I’m not going to deliver an open drink especially when they paid $5 for it! I told the manager what happened (reminding you she was the one who prepared my order) and she refuses to replace it and had a nasty attitude along with her “customer service”. I was thinking about coming to this restaurant and trying it out, but I will no longer do that!
I went Wednesday for my first time and my food was fantastic. I got the pork chop, Mac and cheese with collard greens and I felt like I was dreaming because it was so good. This was one of the worse eating experience that I had. I order the pork chop with collard greens and yams. For desert I had banana pudding. The chop was tough and chewy. The greens and yams had no soul in the flavor. I really want to comment on the banana pudding. They should have called it Jello banana pudding, with two pieces of bananas, and hard vanilla wafers on top. If you are going to have high prices, they should have high standards in the food. Will never go back.
Monique was an awesome greeter, cashier and server. She suggested that I try the fried turkey wing and it was phenomenal. My mother and aunt loved the fried catfish and Salisbury steak. We plan on going back before we return home to St. Louis.
I drive by this restaurant often and decided to stop this evening. I walked in with my 4 yr old son at 7:55p (they close at 8p) and was greeted with a smile. I realized I didn’t have my wallet but asked if I could use an app to pay and at least get my son a plate. Mo asked what he wanted, and Antoinette began making his plate. I almost wrestled with these ladies to allow me to pay for his food via an app. They refused and paid out of their own pockets. When he began eating the food I had to have a taste....and it was good!!!!! I will definitely be bringing my entire family back for dinner one night soon and I thank Mo and Antoinette again! Side portions are pretty small. Smothered pork chop was large and good, but wasnt really smothered. Barely any gravy. The greens were good! Mac n cheese not bad. The banana pudding however was the WORST Ive ever had. It was bland and deconstructed as in pudding, bananas, and wafers thrown into a container
Id give it 5 stars but the wait staff was weird. I mean one poor woman was doing the vast majority of the work: cashier, waitress, food prep, while an assortment of others stood around or went back and forth from the front counter to the kitchen. But--the food was worth the wait. Well go back again for sure. But next time well call ahead or get Delivery. A big salute to Amaris who was doin it all!

Food needs to be seasoned. Mac and cheese taste like plain noodles and my chicken was fried way too hard. My father ribs was so hard also. We did not enjoy my food.
This restaurant is horrible. Customer service was terrible. We waited 10 minutes to get just a water. The food was small portions. Please don’t go here. The Mac n cheese was burnt. The ladies that own this spot has a attitude. The lady that served us had a attitude. The Assistant Manager was very nice but rather than that we won’t come back. They need to be trained on a variety of issues.
Loved it! Just ordered food today on 9/13/17 for supper. Our order was ready for pickup within 40 minutes, which I was impressed with in a restaurant that doesnt cook until you order: I ordered the chicken tenders and my husband got the meatloaf. The tenders are huge, hand breaded and fried crispy. The meatloaf is tender & covered with a tasty tomato/herb sauce that is not the run of the mill ketchup that were all used to. The macaroni is the cheddary, creamy oven baked stuff your Grandmother made (if she was a great cook), the garlic mashed potatoes have real potato lumps & great flavor. The tea is super sweet, we loved it. The desserts were so good, too- we ordered certain things online that the restaurant was out of, and got a call from We Got Soul within 5 minutes; the young lady explained they were out of a couple of things wed ordered online from the menu on Grubhub. com. I understand this as this is not an assembly line chain. The employee who called offered substitutes and we okayed it. Everything was delicious and we will be back the next time we visit the area & will recommend it to anyone that is ready for real Southern food & excellent service.
We went on a Sunday afternoon and I do not plan to go back . The srvice was not good. We waited about fourty minutes for our food. We. ordered fried chicken and meatloaf. The meatloaf was awful, the collards had a different taste, the Mac n cheese was dry and the Corn bread was crumbly. We had to wait for the cornbread about fifteenth minutes after we got our food. The girl preparing the plates was overworked and you could tell. They were liked chicken with their heads cut off. The place is very small and tight as far as room. . Not to mention we asked for ice water and the ice pretty much melted before it reached the table. Not sure why people pay their money to get here. Plus the portion are small.
Was my first time trying this restaurant. I never heard of them I was just googling food near me and it popped up. Glad I did I ordered the smothered pork chops, man and chz, and greens. Also the chicken alfredo. Everything was great. Only suggestion for the chicken alfredo not to much sauce. It was overwhelming. Had more sauce than pasta and meat. But still had a great taste ill definitely revisit soon
The turkey wings were overcooked and dry. A good turkey wing should fall off the bone. They gave mashed potatoes which were bland and no gravy. Who serves masher potatoes without gravy? The salmon croquettes had no seasoning or taste and the cabbage was mushy and overcooked. The only thing good was the mac and cheese and cornbread
From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed, the cashier helped me decide what was best. Google their reviews and I can say it’s not an disappointment. Plus my friend told me it’s his favorite restaurant. The pork chops are great and seasoned.
Very poor service! Waited 45 minutes for baked chicken, greens, & okra when I dined in with my family! Another table that came in 10 min after us got their food before us! When brought to the owners attention she was unbothered! Amazing! Cancelled my order b/c I got tired of waiting & Im not going to give anybody my money for poor service..
This was one of the worst dining experiences Ive had. My food arrived cold. My order was delivered incomplete. I had to constantly ask and remind several people to bring me the remainder of my food. Once I said screw it and had just about eaten the main portion of my meal then they brought me the rest. I asked to be compensated in some way for the experience and I was ignored. And worst of all the food wasnt even very good. This is definitely I will never visit again and I wouldnt recommend anyone eat there.
Stepped inside and was immediately greeted by a warm and friendly staff member who explained where to order and wait for your food, or which table to sit at if dining in. Every staff person encountered was incredibly friendly and professional. Now, the food... was indescribable! I ordered Salisbury steak over mashed potatoes, a side of green beans, Mac n cheese and cornbread. The rest of the family ordered chicken fingers, green beans and Mac n cheese. Salisbury steak patties were thick and well seasoned in a delectable brown gravy. The mashed potatoes were garlic seasoned without being too overpowered by garlic. Excellent! Both in taste and texture. Mac n cheese was rich with a creamy texture. I’m used to more of a cheddar flavor vs. American cheese, and still it won me over. Family loved the chicken fingers, seasoned breading, beautiful white meat- juicy not too dry. Green beans were seasoned the best we’ve ever had, a nice buttery, peppered flavor. Salted to perfection. Last but not least, our 2 final favorites are the cornbread which is so smooth and lightly sweetened, you don’t even need butter. And I love butter, especially on cornbread, but doing so in this case would have ruined perfection. And you HAVE TO have the lemonade! My dad used to make fresh squeeze homemade lemonade growing up and this is the only lemonade I’ve ever had that tastes just like his. Fresh, natural, hand squeezed and sweetened. We will be making the 40 min trip every Sunday. That’s how amazing We Got Soul soul food truly is. Exceptional experience, staff, food and price!
My food was horrible. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with yams and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese tasted fake and the yams tasted off.
Food is great. Customer service is horrible. They are terribly unorganized. Losing tickets while they are preparing orders and all. Get rid of the cashier with the red braids and this would be a 5 star place.
The best restaurant ever that serves food with love. The service was excellent, and made you feel like you were family. The pork chops and mac and cheese and black eyed peas and green beans and corn, yeah I was hungry, it was excellent. I will be going back many times
The food was pretty good but I had to wait 50 minutes for my order. The staff was pleasant but they should have offered me something. Instead, I kept getting reasons??? why my order was taking so long. I told my wife about the wait and she told me that the service is always slow. That’s why she stopped eating there.
The meat was good but the sides were weird. The mac n cheese had like a jalapeno kick, the collard greens were not cooked how black ppl make it, they were like kale chewy, still crunchy. Yams were good.
I visited the restaurant on today for the first time and it took entirely too long to receive my food. I waited literally 30 minutes in the waiting area when everything I ordered was on the hot bar and was ready. Finally I stood up to make eye contact with anyone that could assist and when she asked my name, she started making the plate. I’m like did I miss something, I thought I was waiting for more chicken to cook. And it was not busy enough to explain why I waited 30 minutes for an employee to fix a plate. So annoying!!!
I ordered a 2pc whiting meal. I should have opened my bag checked. When I got home I realized that I only received 1pc and the fish didnt taste like whiting. Called but no one picked up the phone. Disappointed.
The food was good but it wasnt enough food for what I paid. The plate was $15 I only got Salisbury steak rice butter beans macaroni and cheese. Other than that it was okay but I doubt Ill be going back.
I honestly love supporting small businesses especially black owned but my last experience at this establishment will definitely be that, my last. Now fortunate my wait wasnt as long but there was actually a lady waiting for food an hour you can guarantee when you go some of many vegetables wont be available and Lord help if you order anything that has to be cooked.
Sorry to say but I bought some baked turkey wings for my husband and they were terrible. He never really complains about food so I know it was bad. Turkey wings were tough not done at all. Fried corn was old $15 so not worth it. Will not be going back again. Had to end up feeding it to the dog so I wouldn’t feel like I wasted my money.

I just ordered a smothered Turkey wing over white rice with cabbage and Mac and cheese and a sweet tea. Not only did they forget to give me rice I paid for but they put me on hold then hung up on me and turned off their phones. I support black businesses but dont support this one! And on top of all that the tea taste like its been sitting out for 2 days! Yall gotta do better I will never eat here again nor will I encourage any one to ever do so. My problem was never resolved. I paid for an item I never received and what I did receive was some trash this place is a waste of money and your appitete

I went last Friday. The food was disgusting. The greens was can glory greens (not fresh) , the mac and cheese was made with Nacho cheese. The turkey wings was not season and not cooked all the way. Im a born and raised georgia girl I know how sould food suppose to taste this food wasnt good at all. I dont know if there was another cook this day the food wasnt good. The employee was friendly and provided good customer service.
Today will be my first and last time at this unprofessional restaurant. I called 3 times prior to driving out to Stone Mountain to ask a simple question about the menu, and each time I was placed on hold for 30 mins (I should have taken this as a sign). I decided to take the drive anyway, my biggest mistake. I stood at the counter for 20 minutes waiting to place my order. The young lady at the front, with the Bob hair cut, has a TERRIBLE attitude and lacks basic customer service skills. Another customer who had been waiting over 40 minutes for a take out order, asked the young lady a simple question and was totally ignored. When I finally got my food, I realized that I didn’t have any plastic utensils, so I asked politely for a fork and sis had an attitude about that as well LOL moral to this story, SPEND YOUR HARD WORKING MONEY ELSEWHERE!! Periodtttt.
Was a RIP off paid 26$ for two pieces of small fish 5 shrimp and order of double fries for 2sides the fries was very amount to be a double order which tasted awful. All the food was cooked in old grease.The shrimp was overcooked.The wait time was like 25 mins. I wouldnt recommend this place to anybody I would never go back either I left saying to myself never again

Great food, BUT I waited OVER an hour for my food to come out. Once EVERYONE else’s food came out my food did not. The waiter blamed the cashier saying the cashier didn’t print my food order but they took my money and handed me a receipt. They offered food off the “bar” which was like a buffet style meal and I respectfully turned it done. They blamed everyone instead of accepting that they as a whole messed up! I was offered an refund WHICH I never got. Sorry not sorry first time going last time ever.
First time in , the food was amazing between my family and I we pretty much tried it all . The meatloaf , Salisbury Steak and fried pork chop we’re all amazing !! All there sides were so good , the okra was so crispy and the green beans were seasoned perfectly ! We will be back soon .

People great food 👹 All for $15 and nothing to wash the 🤮down with and they charge $4 for a $0.50 piece of meat that isnt seasoned good and tuff definitely will not be dining with you ever at making any recommendations Donnies/Goodtimes does a way better job right down the road
The service was slow (they warn you) because the food was fresh and WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I thought my grandma was in the kitchen! Bring crackers, snack on the fried green tomatoes, but dont walk out. You will never forgive yourself. Soul food is meant to be cooked slow but if youre in a rush they have food already prepared as well.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life! Ask for the lady to clean a table she looked at me crazy and told me, she (another girl who wasn’t anywhere around.) gonna get to it... it took 10 mins before the table was cleaned! Then I ordered 5 meals (you pay before hand otherwise I would have left after the table issue.) they only brought 4 meals to the table with 2 drinks and the waitress looked at me crazy when I told her I need my kids drinks! Just overall very bad the worst!
Got shrimp basket, horrible choice. Shrimp were fried too hard, very chewy. Fries were fair, but the dipping sauce was good. Little bit of food for high price, so will not be going back, nor will I recommend to any friends.

The servers need to put as much time as they do putting on all that fake hair & makeup with their service and serving speed instead. This place will not be open long. We ordered through UberEats and it took almost 2 hours to get here. Then the two piece cat fish meal that we paid $13.99 for only had one piece of fish, and they forgot the cornbread in the other meal. This was pretty disappointing. The food was ok but not great. Needless to say we prob wont be eating there again.

The food was great, but the full service was terrible. I would not recommend sitting and eating. Get your good food to go. Youll have a better experience at home. The server, Brooke, was absolutely terrible and way too aloof for the job. She was probably the worst part of my experience.
I usually stop by this place frequently. I think the customer service and quality have gone down a little. Sometimes they dont have food and when you think you ordered one thing you may get something else. When you expressed concerns, they were not apologetic or offered anything. You had to settle. I hope they get it together.
Coming from an attractive foodie, I must say for my first experience with this staff, they were thirsty, fake and shady in most aspects. I know good ingredient, fresh aroma tasting food and theres is bland, basic and dry. Unless youre starving, I recommend McDonalds first.
I am very dissatisfied with my experience today. I have eaten here and even order from this establishment with UberEats several times and the service was okay. Today I came in at 3:40 ordered my food to dine in and after sitting more than 30 min was told that an item I ordered wasnt even available. My server never came to the table to apologize for having me wait only to find out that my food wasnt available. So, now Im leaving at 4:30 with no food. I always try to support black business , but I wont be coming back.

Made my order over the phone was told to give it twenty minutes when I got there twenty five minutes after to pick up my order I was told I had to wait an additional fifteen minutes as the Mac and Cheese was finished and they were preparing a new batch. They were not apologetic at all. Poor customer service.
My plate was missing both sides and the cornbread, so I paid $16 for 1pc. Of fish and some shrimp!! The condiments that I requested were not in the bag. The shrimp were good. My husbands pork chop was salty as was my Catfish. The fries were soggy. I wont return.

Placed an order over the phone at 2:17pm for 2 baked turkey wing dinner and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived there in 10nim and order was not ready and people who came in after me got there food before mine. I waited for an hour before I got my food and then on top of that order was wrong only recieved 1 turkey wing. This is horrible customer service!
Me and my mom went here Sunday October 7,2018 around 4:08pm. I seen they had Turkey wings(which is my favorite) and I wanted yams(double yams rather). When I got to cashier she says they don’t have turkey wings and the yams gonna take a hour long. So I had to change WHOLE order. Which is already bad for a place. Waiting and waiting, and mind you this is TO GO. Me and my mom still waiting. 30 minutes go by, 45 minutes go by. Here comes a hour. We still there. Did not leave until 5:13pm.They was moving so slow. Then you had the Uber eats and door dash order etc come in. They don’t have they food near ready. Would not recommend this place unless you like waiting a hour or so on.Got home. DIDNT EVEN GET MY BREAD😐I’m over it. Smh
The ladies came to our job for a thanksgiving lunch, and it was phenomenal!! Cola, Emma, & Emma served us a full dinner with a variety of desserts. I’m finishing off my personal sweet potato pie 😋. Polite and professional establishment, thanks y’all!!
It was ok...I ordered a country style rib plate with cabbage, blk eye peas and mac n cheese on the side w/corn bread, I had to wait for the food longer than I expected too...but when I got to my grandma house, there was no corn bread...that was a sad plate & grandma w/o the corn bread.
Extremely slow! & dried out! It took about 45 mins to get our food. And I thought it was precooked in the buffet, but I guess they were making it from scratch. Then I got my (dark meat) roasted chicken, by which time I was really hungry, and it was so dried out I couldnt even eat it. It also wasnt drak meat like I ordered, it was a breast that looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for 6 hours. At least the collards and gried okra was good. But I paid $5 for those small sides and walked out still hungry over an hour later.I will not be back.
The food here is nasty! The mac n cheese tasted scorched and curdled the collards were salty and gritty. This is,nt soul food to say the least. I gave them a second chance giving them the benifit of doubt...thinking maybe it was an off day. Went back and the food was the same NASTY! Your best bet will be Boston Market or Applebees. This service was great! However, the food not so great. My Grilled Tilapia was over cooked, very hard. My yams were good but cold and the green beans was salty. The biggest disappointment was the banna pudding! It is not homemade pudding. It was instant pudding with bannas and wafer thrown in. So disappointed.

Put on hold 3 times for pickup order. Lacking customer service. Didnt acknowledge me at when I entered. Had to wait in line behind everyone to PAY FOR MY PICKUP ORDER? Whats the point of calling ahead. 😂 Catfish was pretty good. Invest in a separate register for pickups.
The cashier named Tasha kept wiping her nose with her hands and touching her face. She also took a smoke break while people are waiting on their food. She touched platters then once she realized people were watching her then went and wet not wash her hands. We waited 45mins for our order and it was cold. NEVER AGAIN!!!
The food is ok, but I think it depends on who cooking that day. For example one day my chicken will be juicy and flavorful the next dry and a waste. And also depending on who there the proportion of the sides change. Overall its decent if you go on a good day .
The baked chicken was leftovers from yesterday or the day before FOR SURE. They literally put box pudding in a container and top it off with banana and wafers. Probably my worst experience at a soul food spot
I would say first, the we got soul sauce isn’t really good. Y’all should fix your door dash menu, the wings are the size of your pinky finger, unorganized, the red velvet cake was great, but it sucks when you try to support a black business and you end regretting it. I feel like I wasted $30 yesterday, y’all need to do better.

When they first open it was a great place to eat. I moved out the neighborhood. I went back just to get their pork chops, they were terrible rubbery very chewy. I was very disappointed for the cost it should have been better. Did they change ownership?
Love the fried lemon pepper turkey wing and ribs. Fresh veggies,love their Mac and cheese, black eye peas,green beans, and peach cobbler...my family and I come often for a home cooked meal on nights the kiddos have practice....Great staff as well, very personable

Being new to the Stone Mountain area, I was very excited to try this place based on reviews, I ordered the Salmon Croquettes with Mac n Cheese and yams with the corn bread. Unfortunately all of the food is dry and doesn’t have much seasoning. The salmon croquettes are bland and slightly undercooked. The yams did not meet my expectations taste bland as well. I always try to support black owned businesses but this was disappointing. The only item that was delicious was the grilled shrimp.
The young lady serving us was nice ,but lacked service ability. The menu states CTO-cooked to order. When my food arrived my fried chicken was hot (delicious), macaroni was luke warm, and greens were cold.
I am not sure what happen. But I am not happy with the food. I plaved a order with uber eats and when the food came to me. It was cold. I order garlic mashed potatoes ( they were cold and had large chunks and they were dry and not garlic at all.) The cabbage was warm amd blend and my turkey wing was dry and seem like it was sitting out all day under the heat lap . i order 2 waters bottles and one tea/ lemonade mix (i was giving one 1 and 2 sodas i dont drink sodas at all ) then i order a banana pudding. It was like instead pudding with bananas on top and cookies on top. Nothing was soul about this. I have ate here before and this never happen. So sadden. Now i had to leave my home and go get food.

Very upset about the potato salad being store-bought.. It is obviously not homemade... I can tell its store-bought, purely because Ive tasted this exact salad before at Skips.6. Ordered a medium burger. Got a burnt one. Still tasted ok, but if I was anyone else Id have trashed it.

I ordered 2 meals through uber eats delivery for my birthday 6-4 and not only was the prices hiked on uber eats for the deserts and not all the veggie options as the website suggested but I called the resturant and spoke with someone that advised me the 5.00 large peach cobbler was gone, then said well there is enough for a small cobbler and they will substitute me a small string beans then I ordered red velvet cake got chocolate cake and like a strawberry cake no potatoe salad as paid for and ordered. No plasticware or napkins and you pay 1.00 for rice with the smothered porkchops but its not enough rice to even be considered worth charging additional prices.The gave me what they wanted me to have for dinner and no utensils to dine with. I received a full refund but my experience cannot be removed. No second chances for theses folks! Too many mistakes on my 🎂.

The collard greens were bland, there was no seasoning at all.. The corn was overcooked & extremely chewy.. The customer service was terrible. I ordered online, came in and the cashier told me there was one order ahead of mine.. I left out and came back in once I saw someone walk out with their order.. In the process of standing there, four other people received their order before I did.. Once my order was ready, it sat on the counter for about 5 minutes while the cashier tried to help with other orders instead of giving me my food.. The guy that was making the plates ended up handing my food after I saw that the receipt was for my order..
This is one of the best soup food restaurants I have been to. They are really nice and treat everyone as soon as you enter the door. I only get Tao things the blackened tilapia salad and the blackened shrimp salad and they are delicious.
Everyone just standing around. I asked for the Mac and cheese they dont have any. Saying that it for the day. I only come to this establishment for Mac and cheese. Why such poorness. As a retired military vet I got better service in Afghanistan then I did here. 2 times why
The food is nasty, I ordered country style spare ribs, mac & cheese, yams, & peach cobbler, and a kids meal grilled cheese & yams. The portions of the yam was so small the put the sandwich & yams in a small container i thought they had forgot to bring them, plus they are not the real soul food yams, they mushy & from the can. Mac & cheese is bland, no real flavor, & dry asf. Ribs are somewhat ok. Peach cobbler is gross asf, tastes like bland no flavor the crust is doughy. Im soooo pissed off. Worst soul food ever! 😠😠😡😠😡
I rode by this place for three months, but never stopped in. Then, I started delivering for Doordash and Uber Eats and got to orders in a row from them.They get pretty busy at times, but the staff is friendly and food is well worth the wait! All around great vibes.
So my family and I decided to go to black own business for dinner ,weve tried this place a couple times before wasnt to bad then...but this time it was disgusting... If it wasnt for the young lady that rung us up for her customer service being OK I will give you guys 0 stars ....we got pork chop that was hard as a rock could barely eat it, we got chicken fingers and fish that were bland ...the macaroni cheese for a soulful place was horrible its like no salt no pepper was added to anything we were very disappointed ...and for the amount of money that we spent (alot)...... we will not be returning it was the worst soul food weve ever had.. No offense but we really needed that southern cooking that makes your soul feel good...and this was not the place😪😪😪
Although the food is tasty, service sucks. It takes a very long time for the food to be prepared. The cooks, food prep people and cashier don’t seem to have a process to get the food out to customers in a timely fashion.
The Food is GREAT!!! But the time it takes for them tofix your plate is VERY SLOW. They need to train their staff on the efficiency of being timely Its important because it shouldnt take that long to prepare food thats already done.

Upon arriving at We Got Soul, I was promptly greeted by a man who was waxing his old Monte Carlo right in front of the restaurant. Before I walked into the restaurant I went to throw something in the trash bin next to the building and the very same guy said. Hey,dont be tossing anything in that can, I done paid 35 dollars a month for that. I was shocked at the tone, language, and lack of professionalism exhibited by him as he clearly wasnt concerned about the impression of his restaurant. $35 a month sounded like it was a major deal for him so I can only imagine the corners they cut in the kitchen in order to save a buck. Furthermore, waxing his car right in front of the door was enough to make us already decide we wouldnt need to take any more steps toward the door. We will go elsewhere and in 2 years from now when I revisit this address Im quite certain this business wont here.
Went there today for lunch. Worst place ever. Food was horrible. Took an hour to get it and the restaurant was empty. Food was tasteless, bland and cold. Waste of time and money. These people know nothing about cooking. There is no soul in this food. Even the water is not filtered. Very low standards here.
As a born and bred southern girl who was raised by good cooks, this place is only okay. But if you expect fast-food soul food, it will not disappoint.

We have ordered from this place more than once and it’s been downhill each time. You are better off going to This Is It! They take forever to make food, are never prepared for crowds, always running out of something and the workers are lazy. Save you time and money!
Decent food. Funny staff. I see the same young ladies Everytime I come in. I get the same thing everytime I come. The salmon croquettes, while they are not like Mamas from South Georgia, lol, they are decent.
Had lunch there today an it was delicious!! An they had the best costumer service tbe young lady desiree was amazing , i gave her a raise an she dont work for me !! We love this place because its a real soul for restaurant... Soulful music, people, all around vibe is good. Theres plenty of places in the area that serves similar foods, but not as good. The service is extremely friendly and although you might have to wait a couple minutes for take out, its worth it and theres a big tv to look at and chairs to chill in. We started making it an every week place for us but my bf said he wants to make it a twice a week spot cuz its so delicious. Im writing this as hes going mmmk huhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhjhhhhhh boy! Cashier was Beyond Rude .. I wanted to support a Black -Owned Business contact owner Colashe didnt seem to care at all . I spend right at 100$ to be treated like this isnt cool ..Macaroni and Cheese not good , Turkey Wings dry no taste the banana pudding I cant believe they gave me that full of water no bananas cookies thrown on top ... This time the food wasnt seasoned at all .And they tell you to wait in your car for your order but dont give you an estimated time or anything . So you have to keep going in 5o check to see if your order is ready compared to them asking for a phone number or something.

We Got Soul is a great place for good soul food. It was a little dark inside and the wait time for the food was a little lengthy but the food was great. My daughter and I enjoyed it!

Being a vegetarian, I rarely get to eat Real Soul Food cooked by someone other than myself or a close family member I trust.A bonus...the food youre going to get is safely on display....and it looked appetizing! What sealed the deal for me?? Yall, Mama/ GRANDMA came from the kitchen to add more food to the display!!! WHAT?!?!?!I ordered the side item meal with 4 sides for $6.99. I chose, Mac & Cheese, yams, cabbage, and corn Oh, and a corn muffin. The Corn wasnt on display....it wasnt horrible, but it wasnt great.My husband, a meat eater, got a side item meal also. He had collard greens, black eye peas, green beans & mashed potatoes. Once I got over the initial shock of the saltiness, everything was very tasty. I only tried his collard greens and they were VERY good.Will we eat there again?Yes.Yes, we WILL.

2019-06-30Worst soul food! Greens are tender but no flavor, pork chops has plenty of gravy but taste so bland, Mac and cheese is okay! Onion rings are okay but not crispy! Will not be returning! My brother ordered a peach cobbler which was given to him in a container cold which appears it was thawed from a frozen state! No offense but this is not the southern taste I was looking for!

2017-08-24I just had my first and last visit. When I arrived, I was made to do a chore while the cashier, who asked me to close a stubborn front door, sat behind the counter and watched me while I struggled. I hesitantly placed my order for baked chicken and asked for two thighs, only to be interrupted by the cashier with a complaint that she had to start the order all over again because of my request. I finally arrive home and guess what I find in my order? Two BREASTS! I hate chicken breasts. Guess what I didnt get? Napkins and plastic ware. $11 down the drain. The food isnt even that good. I had to drench the chicken with hot sauce and I still couldnt eat it. The bread roll was stale and the mac & cheese wasnt all that. Stouffers has better soul food than this place. Avoid.

2021-05-18Ok, my rating is based on a combination of fresh food and friendly service. We must have arrived during a slow period and did not have any issue with waiting. We ordered collard greens, cabbage, mac & cheese, and yams. We also ordered turkey wing, collards and black eye peas. The cashier was extremely nice and as we placed our order she let us know all the items available that were not visible. The vegetables were all properly seasoned and had good flavor. I didnt care for the sweet cornbread at all and I wouldnt purchase the turkey wing next time. I would say its a solid place when you want a decent plate of food.
