Frank is an awesome host and owns a very nice campground right on the creek, not only a great business but it is his home too. He made me and my 14 yr old pup feel welcome, very accommodating and great prices for the camper site and great prices in his store!! We will be back!
Its peaceful and quiet and clean. Ive stayed at this campground over 20 times. The owner is friendly and attentive the campers. There are horseshoe pits, a playground, a pool, and laundry, as well as restrooms with showers. There are cabins available which Ive stayed it and enjoyed. And I know other people who have stayed in the deluxe cabin which has plenty of privacy in the woods--and they loved it. The camp store is packed with snacks and other food items plus firewood and bags of ice--pretty much everything you would want in a camp store, plus some pleasant surprises. Its a beautiful area and pleasure to stay there. Ill be back again!
Be prepared for a steep hill with a huge curve. It was a little scary with our 40 foot camper. Our spot was pretty tight and could reach out the window and touch the camper next to us. None of the spots have grass and barely any around for the kids to play in. Being on the creek was pretty cool and since the pool was closed that was nice for the kids. I never saw horseshoe pits and the play set was falling apart with nails hanging out and stuff growing on it. There was also brush in the play area which is very unsafe for the kids. It was nice having the bathhouse for an extra bathroom but one of the showers had a wad of hair in it which was gross.
The sites were not able to fit our 5th wheel after being told they would. Our nose end was on a PUBLIC road! Our back end practically hanging over the small river. We could not park our TV on our site but had to park on the shoulder of the public roadway. The road is narrow, not wide enough to have 2 vehicles pass each other. Owner may be a “nice” guy, but definitely not a professional. Another camper parked his tv in the turn around which caused us to have damage to our camper. Overall, go to a rest area - it will be a better experience.
An updated review from May 2020. Frank now owns the home property that the nuisance neighbor used to live on. This place is small and quaint and only what you need. It only holds 30 or so RV’s. The creek is nice, but several areas are overgrown with brush so it’s difficult to see, and it’s not a place you’d splash around in. The laundry and bathrooms are clean and basic and somewhat dated, but it’s what you need, not luxury. Frank isn’t obtrusive to me, and his camp store has everything you’d need. He was very helpful in getting us in the right spot and getting us in. Large campers beware, there is a narrow hairpin turn getting into the place. We have a 33’ camper with a Ford F-250 and it was tight. The cabins look charming and that area is beautiful, but again I believe you have to go out to the bathrooms if you need it. Overall nice place.
Wow what a time we had here. This place is one of the most convenient places to stay. It is so secluded. And you have a walmart, Burger King, arbys, mcdonalds, downtown blue ridge, kayaking, fishing all less than 10 minutes away. We stayed in slot 1 the first campsite to the left in a pop up camper. Very great place to bring kids to play or for just a couple by themselves. We enjoyed going to sleep to the running creek right beside our campsite. It was a beautiful view. Our place had a campfire spot and picnic table to set and eat with family. The owner thats in his office is always present. And they have all kinds of essentials just in case you forget something. Also has awesome whispering pines happy camper tshirts for adults and kids to remember your trip. But one thing I was also very glad about was their bathrooms and shower spaces. VeRY CLEAN. Always sanitized. And another things to mention is its a very safe place. Will definately go here again 100% strongly recommend for a getaway!
The bad reviews are all true. My husband and I just went. The first night we liked it. We bought $30 worth of wood and lighter fluid ( because the wood was green). Frank sold wood to everyone there knowing it wouldn’t burn. Every fire pit was smoking. I was looking forward to night and early fire. We had to buy it somewhere else. If that wasn’t bad enough, the neighbor, not other owner that’s written in another review lives right behind the 3 cabins. His fences is maybe 5 feet from the back of the cabin. His dog 🐕 s on a chain all day and barks most of the 24 hours. Then the last night we were there, he shoots, what my husband says was probably a 3006 rifLe in his back yard. Keep in mind there are kids running freely around the parking lot in front of this mans yard where he is shooting. Frank did not seem concerned at all and said yeah he does that and doesn’t tell me. There is bad blood between this owner on the property in the campsite and Frank the owner of the campground. The place is very small. There is absolutely no privacy. The cabin is very cute and doesn’t have plumbing but we don’t mind roughing it. The dog, crappy wood and a lunatic that shoots his gun in a campground did us in. 😟
Quiet, small grounds, on creek nestled in a valley. Very pretty setting. Alittle pricey, but it is water front. Owner was just as nice as he could be. Bath house was large, clean and you could lock the door. Did not see any live in campers which really added to the over all experience. Would stay again. Giant swimming pool. Kids would be in heaven in summer with the creek and pool and play ground.
We drove in at 8 at night. The campground manager could not have been any nicer. He got us all squared away before the sunset. He was very helpful. You could see the love put into the campgrounds all over. We slept right by a little creek. This wasnt in the plan for us but we had a wonderful time. No complaints.
Great campground, host is a great guy! As long as one does not act like an idiot, abuse the property or such will have no problems at all and that is something I really like about the place. Clean, inviting, well stocked camp store and has accommodations for all types of campers from high dollar RVs to primitive camping for die hard tenters and everyone in between.A lot to like here!
Beautiful and quaint RV park. Could use a fair amount of work, but the potential is definitely there. Almost all the slips are on the creek and its very secluded though its just off the main highway. The owner was nice and I realize it was the off season, but we needed propane and there was a propane tank and he sold propane, but isnt an early riser so we found a place to fill our propane tanks elsewhere and it was no small feat! There is not 24 hour assistance. I would return in the summer and give it another chance and see if it has improved any. My hope is that its a work in progress and will continue to improve because its too pretty and has too much potential to just be mediocre.
We have brought the camper for several years and enjoy it each time. We have brought kids different times when they were tweens and older. We love the most to come in September to celebrate our wedding anniversary, just us. Thanks always to Frank for his southern hospitality.
Poor excuse for a campground. RV sites are very narrow. No privacy. Cabins look like they were built for children play houses. Three cabins side-by-side with tent campers virtually in their from yard. There are much nicer cabins to choose from in the area. A filthy house was directly across from our site with a pit bull tied up outside. Owner and employees were nice. We will not be back.
The environment was kept garbage free. The tree limbs were pulled out of the way so that you could get to where you were going. The fire pit was cleaned out, but there were still some coals when we arrived so it made making the fire easier. The place where we pitched our tent was flattened purposefully by the staff. A great design idea. Overall a great experience!
What a great place to come an enjoy a quiet weekend. 9ft, 7ft, 3ft deep pool, horse shoes, playground for the kids, trout fishing, gold panning, friendly host, and if you forgot something Im sure the office/store will have it. Clean bath house, 7 miles from town with great shopping options. Great place to camp.
WORST CAMPGROUND EVER! - We camped 3 families with children (age 5-10) and grandparents that stayed in the cabin on the hill. Our first night was fine; we had a camp fire, smores for the kids and the adults had a few drinks. The next day we took the kids to the pool and the owner blows his whistle and says everyone out of the pool for 5 minutes - the kids need potty breaks. He did this every hour on the hour until 6pm and if you did not get out immediately he threatened to make it 10 minutes. The campers have to share the pool with the public - he allows the public to pay to swim for the day - so the pool is CROWDED with all sorts of people. That night at 9:30 he comes to our campsites and tell us that its lights out & quiet time at 10pm. He thinks this is a daycare instead of a campground. He also told us he sleeps with his windows up so he can hear what everyone is saying so we need to keep it down. The other owner that lives behind the campground likes to rev up his truck at 7am and blow exhaust into the tents around him. Lets not forget the showers - you dont even get a steady flow of water; you turn the faucets on and manually pull a chain to release the water - he has instructions taped up in the stall....pull chain, wet your body, release chain, soap your body, pull chain to rinse your body. LOL! The toilets have instructions too - hold handle down for 5 seconds..say, 1 - 1000, 2 - 1000 etc. It is NOT your typical campground. You have NO privacy; the campsites are on top of one another and the road goes right through it.If your too loud the private neighbors across the creek will flash thier lights at you. The owner, in my opinion, has some serious issues! WE WILL NEVER CAMP HERE OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!!!!!
My family stays here several times a year. We have stayed in the small cabins, tent sites and camper sites. The location is great. We enjoy trout fishing in the stream, it’s a short drive to the lake and downtown Blue Ridge. The bathrooms and showers are always clean. My children love the large pool. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere there is great. Love the fact that it’s small, personal and locally owned.
Everything was awesome except when it was raining there are no cement roads or any where to walk or sit which is not completely mud also if you have kids and its raining you are going to have a hard time entertaining them. The pool is great and there is a slide too for the kids in the play ground
It was nice and quiet and beautiful but me my husband and son stayed in the cabin and it was small and not clean.it looked like it has not been sweepd and and spiders and cob webs everywhere.the dishes in the cabin had stuff on them.i had to was tthe plates off before we used them and when my husband pulled back the cover from the bed there was black bugs in the bed and when I washed my cup and straw I noticed some kind of bug was in my straw.the shower has not been cleaned it had dry soap and something else so I had to clean ot before I we used it.we will not go back.they charge to much for the cabin for 2 nights and its not worth it.we have stayed in other cabins and they was alot nicer and cleaner.i recommend dont waste ur money here.go somewhere else.next time we go camping we will not come back here.

2022-06-30Perfect layout for a great experience if you are wanting to enjoy nature! Most spots, maybe all, are located near the beautiful creek streams, with sounds of natural water flowing from the mountains! Each site has its own trail for access to the creek. The On site pool is clean. The campground is well kept and clean. On-site bathrooms and showers. On-site laundry facilities. The office is stocked with many items that is available for purchase.

2021-10-14My husband and I went here for a last minute camping trip. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We forgot our air mattress pump, so Scott helped us out and everyone was so kind. We camped next to a serene little creek, very private. It was a nice quiet getaway, perfect place to stay if you are looking to go enjoy the hiking in the mountains. Bath houses were a little dated, but clean and close by.

2021-10-14Beautiful place to stay. Glad we found this place. It’s not a resort by any means but we prefer places like this. Quiet and peaceful. Most sites are along the creek that sounds so tranquil. Close to Blue Ridge. We will definitely be back.

2021-08-22It is a very nice beautiful place my daughter has a fifth wheel she stayed right on the creek. We stayed in cabin it needs a concrete slab to walk to the cabins is very muddy and water puddles .it needs to be weed eating grass cut. The pool was covered up not open.We would have loved to used it. the store if you need anything you have to call him and he will come down. We have stayed in many campgrounds you can get coffee and service anytime. If this is a business the store should be open and service at your time in need Regular business hours. It’s a very nice place it just needs more maintenance. It’s quiet lit up nice they would get better views if it was more maintained. The owner is a very nice person he just might need some help for those areas that need it very badly

2021-05-20Love love love the creek!!! We have a family of six, and tent camped. The sites are all super small and very close together (the reason for 3 stars). We noticed rv spots barely had room for their vehicle... and we could literally reach out our tent window and knock on our neighbor’s door (they weren’t loud neighbors but could hear them talking until 1AM - my guess is simply the close proximity). Other than that, it was an inviting and cozy spot. The creek was the best!! Kids got to go fishing and enjoy the cool water. Bathroom/ showers aren’t new but were clean, and smelled clean every time we used them. If you have a large rv I’d second guess the ability to use and enjoy the small sites.

2021-07-24Im giving this a 2 because we met some great fellow campers and on a creek. We were able to fish. Watch the neighborhood (Karen) who walks around looking for (issues). Campground is on a road with access to another road. Traffic! Campsites are very small. Pool still closed due to covid. So they say. Save your money and camp somewhere else.

2021-04-10Weve stayed several times at Whispering Pines when we have been visiting friends who moved to Blairsville. My husband and I found it very quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for, as well as all the amenities that we needed. The owner, Frank, is more than obliging and makes himself available at all times. We had to check in late one night when Hurricane Michael chased us out of Florida and the owner even came out to help us park the RV...in the pouring rain! Well go back again and again, when in that area.
