Wildwood Park in other cities:
This is probably my favorite place on clarks hills lake. I enjoy the primitive camping section out at the point, perfect place for hammocks. They have a nice beach area thats sectioned off and plenty of little coves that a determined camper can find on theyre own. Lot of boat traffic nearby with a couple boat ramps to launch from. Wildwood is also host to the PDGA course right up the road.
Myself, my dad, my brother and his son went fishing with a guide and we left from Wildwood Park. The facilities are fantastic. The entire place was clean, well kept, and is definitely somewhere that I would highly recommend to anyone. I would also like to give a shout out to Little River Guide Service. This is the second time going with them, but the first with Captain Rocky. I cannot say enough good things about Rocky! He is a pleasure to fish with, friendly, courteous, he knows where the fish are, and he is awesome with young kids(my nephew is 5). If you have a boat of your own, this marina/park is a no-brainer.
Great mid-week, a bit too busy for our taste on weekends. We had site #2 to park our 38 class A and toad. Backed in, the front gets painted by every headlight coming out of the area. Most people were quiet, but others felt the need to share their music with the campground on the weekend. A few others drive too fast for the amount of kids playing in the roadways.3-lane dump station, amazing. Nice trails to get out for a walk or mtb ride. Bathrooms in loop #1 here still being built, but they have a portable setup. No showers. VZ 4G 3-bars, OATV reception.
Great place to relax and camp on the lake. Just $3 for day use. $10 night for primitive camping. $20 for a powered campsite. Jet ski and kayak rentals available. Nice playground. Pavilions available for reservation. Beach area for swimming. Bathrooms are clean. Public wifi in some areas. It is in the woods on the lake, so ants and daddy long legs are all around. At least no fire ants that I saw.
We have been treated great by all the staff while we are camping here. The sites are beautiful with fine lake views, very spacious. A truck problem made it necessary to stay another day, which was handled very quickly. This is a place which makes us want to stay a lot longer!
Idk how I never have been here before. I grew up in this area, but only recently visited Wildwood Park. I loved the lake access and play areas! The restrooms needed some attention, but were overall still in ok shape. Theres lots of hiking and rentals as well. We will try more of that next time we go.
Played disc golf at the IDGC, headquarters of the PDGA. There are three courses at the IDGC. I didnt get a chance to play the Jim Warner course, but the Steady Ed Hedrick course was really fun and WR Jackson has to be one of the best and most challenging courses Ive ever played! The guys at the Pro Shop were very helpful and have a great selection of discs, gear and apparel. Definitely a must if youre in the area.
The day we went there, it was hosting a bass tournament so we went down to Soap Creek and fished. I hope to fish there next time I am going fishing. We used the fish cleaning station there. It was awesome. Clean the fish there and no mess at home. I would like to thank my fishing buddy who normally does not clean fish for helping me.
We stayed in campground A. It was great. Almost all of the sites are directly on the lake with great views and a good amount of distance between sites. Facilities were clean and modern. The park is well maintained and it has a 3 bay brand new dump station. Judy, our camp host, was awesome and very friendly/helpful. Ok cell service and wifi.
I love this park. Day use is only $3 and you can bring your dog. The swim area is always clean and well maintained. The campground are also looked after and you feel safe when here. They have plenty of amenities, covered areas, grills, outlets, restrooms, playground, sand volleyball court, etc. Will always be my first choice for lake enjoyment.
Nice park with lots of different areas to do different things. It did get pretty crowded on the day we visited (a Sunday). Certain people were blaring loud music, which I wish the park would disallow. We would still recommend the park because there are a lot of nice features - shade trees, a beach, day use areas, a playground, a sand volleyball court, horse trails, boat launches, primitive camping, and more. I would just recommend picking less busy hours though, if possible. Bass vibe from the people next to us was literally shaking the windows on our van. I asked very nicely for the people to turn their music down -- at first, they literally could not hear me over their own music. Then they only turned it down a little bit.
Yes the park has a lot of nice things to offer; however, the beach area was anything but family friendly. It says no alcohol but there was quite a bit. The most vile language was constantly being shouted out to various groups followed by middle finger salutes. Maybe the park should do a bit of monitoring.
Really nice park with a very cheap entry fee ($3). Great place for families, couples, boating. Dogs have to be on leashes, but there are picnic areas a little further away from the main area where they wont be tempted to try to run off. The beach area is nice but even the picnic areas have fine places to get in the water or lay on the rocks.
Great park, very nice, clean. To the person stating that the bathrooms had ants or was dirty, that is every campground bathroom. They clean them up as soon as you let them know something is out of place. Very accommodating, but there are rules and if you cannot follow basic rules, you need to camp on your own land. I have camped at most of all the state parks and they are all the same, cleanliness and rules must be followed.
This park is well maintained. The section we are in (2) is real quite and most of the sites are easy to get into. The bathroom is very well maintained. One problem I noticed just for me is the shower heads in the mens bathroom has a shower head that sprayers water everywhere. I think they are for water conservation. You can not adjust it to your liking. Otherwise the mens bathroom is good to go.
Great friendly campground with beautiful lake viewed. However bathrooms need improvement womens shower not working, bathrooms didnt get cleaned, and noise ordinance needs to be enforced. Even after 10pm up until 1am people loud and kids running wild on bicycles through path to bathroom. Dogs running loose not on leashes and kids throwing huge rocks, it was chaos. Even after notifying park office nothing was done we had to leave early.
Just for home from wildwood on a weekend camping trip. We have been many times and it is always enjoyable. Campgrounds are nice and clean, and the hosts are always hospitable and nice. Bathhouses have some age but are always clean and showers have plenty of hot, high pressure water.
My first camping visit after getting my camper. The overall experience is very good. People are very friendly there and the host helped us with firewood and other stuff. The sites are kind close to each other and not as secluded and quiet as other camping-only places, like MODOC. The beach area is huge and they were putting more sands in for the summer. Definitely will visit again in summer.Wish I can give it another star for the free wifi.
Came here on a Sunday, mid April before a storm. Very quiet park with plenty of places to camp, picnic, and fish. Theres multiple boat ramps with ample docking. Theres also pavilions. We saw deer prints but didnt see deer. Theres limited facilities, however. Theres plenty of accessible beaches if you wanted to swim.
Beautiful, shaded, pristine camping spots at a low price. Seven boat ramps with ample parking. Friendly staff. A great value with shopping, restaurants and everything you might need just a few miles down the road. I bought a season pass as I will return again and again.
Park is really nice. Disc golf courses are amazing! However, this is place in not very primitive friendly. First, started when I called and asked if they had sites available. All booked up sorry! Is what I was told. I almost got a hotel instead which is not what I wanted to do at all. Luckily I had some friends that told there were tons of space available. So I went anyways and was able to go and camp. Second, problem with this place...... Primitive camping has no shower houses. Ok, I have never camped at a park that did not have bath houses. ESPECIALLY in the primitive camping area. Come on, a park of this caliber should have showers. Lastly, the site hosts are NOT friendly at all. Making it pretty hard for anyone to enjoy themselves. Overall, I wouldve rather paid the extra for a hotel 25 minutes away and drive back and forth for three days for a top level disc golf tournament.
DISC GOLF & CAMPING: First & foremost, this is home to the International Disc Golf Center- there are THREE world-class courses that meander through the woods with partial views of the lake. Well worth the $5 fee. Theres a pro-shop with knowledgeable staff and a selection of discs. They give a military/veterans discount. Practice basket out back, and a gazebo for picnic lunch. CAMPING: Weve camped in the primitive area four times. Its gorgeous and $10/night. Weve always found a space with a fire pit and picnic table, right on the lake. A couple of spots give you an amazing view both east and west. Camp on the north side for some amazing sunsets! The bathrooms are clean, and theres also a playground you can walk to that is well-lit at night. On busy weekends, you may be sharing the beach with day-trippers, and you may hear other campers at night enjoying music and having a good time. (Its never been too loud or obnoxious). As far as I know, foraging for firewood is fine (we always do). If its been wet, you can get a nice bundle for $6 at the Pollards Corner gas station. ** to clarify some other reviews: After the office is closed, the honor system is in effect, just like any other park youd pay to camp in. That means youre expected to leave the fee and take a pass. Weve never been bothered by any golf cart gestapo. Golf carts may be around after dark, but theyll merely do a drive through to make sure everythings cool and everyone has a pass. Theyve never approached us, or my vehicle. In the morning, youll see workers change out the trash bags, and theyre always super nice. As for the 10 pm bedtime, nobody has ever told us to go to bed. We have enjoyed many a night star-gazing around the fire after 10:00.
This place sucks. If you stay here, get ready to have the golf cart gestapo continually looking over your shoulder and dictating how you can have fun. I went here with a friend at night one time recently and we were stopped by the golf cart gestapo dude. He asked us for our passes. We told him the office was closed when we got there but we were glad to pay the $10 per person fee. He told us it doesnt work that way and made us go home. Every time Ive gone here, Ive had the guy on the golf cart give me crap for one thing or another. Get off my back, Wildwood.Isnt the point of this kind of place to get away from nonsense like this? It didnt feel like the great outdoors. It felt like the DMV.
Beautiful lakeside campsite and great price. My boyfriend and I stayed here with our two dogs and had a fun, peaceful night. Hard working camphost keeps it clean and stays on top of the rules. We got lucky and came on a night when no one else was in the primitive camp section. Nothin like waking up to a beautiful view!
First time I camped here it was so peaceful and quiet. I stayed in the 3 loop and the campground host was most helpful. Rangers were patrolling all day long to make sure it was safe.Second time, OMG. It was like the whole staff was on vacation. We stayed at loop 1 and there was no signs of the host, never saw a ranger patrolling, and people took advantage of it. Dogs were running around loose, people were drinking and partying until after 1am, kids were blowing these god awful whistles....it was a nightmare.Never again.... this Campground is good for the young party animals, I dont go camping to listen to all that....During the week this place might be fine, but on the weekends, be prepared.
What a dump!!! Every bathroom on site is a complete and utter mess. Every shelter, bathroom, and, campsite on-premises is full of ants. When I brought it to the park rangers attention ,all he had to offerwas my tent needed to be relocated due to policy, yet he had zero time for any policy that had to do with cleanlines of the bathrooms or that everything was ant infested. Youve been warned
We have camped at Wildwood for 14 years for 35 plus days a year. In the last 2 years the camp hosts and manager really make it hard to enjoy yourself. Very rude and disrespectful. They make up rules as they go along and expect you to pretty much go to bed at 10 for quiet time. Cant even sit quietly by the campfire after 10 without the cops being called just to tell you to keep doing what you are doing.... numerous other bad experiences caused us to cancel all future reservations and camp elsewhere.
Service Dogs - the staff and law enforcements are very friendly and professional. Although the public who do not know the federal laws about service dogs can be very upsetting; especially when they approach you, stand near you within 20 feet, start taking pics or videos of you, tell you that there is a sign that says no pets or dogs, and won’t leave you alone - even after you ask/tell them to get away from you. Not once did she ask me if my dog was a Service Dog; I came out and told her my dog was. I told the woman I was going to call the police if she didn’t leave me alone, but she ended up calling the police on me for having my Service Dog. The law enforcement did come out, approached me, and asked if my dog was a Service Dog. Even though I had all the markers, ID, tags, and medical documents, I didn’t have to show the police. It would be a 5 Star if the sign stated Service Dogs Allowed. I shouldn’t be harassed or feel discriminated by the public.
Our first night within 2 hours a park ranger showed up asking for ids, very very rude!no hey how you doing or anything saying we were loud which we werent and that we couldnt have 3 vechicles on the property!!they werent in the road or blocking anyone! Plus saying we couldnt have alcohol that we had to take it off the property! We have been drinking !what do you want us to do leave and get a Dui? The oversite person on this camp site needs to get a life, its a holiday weekend i mean come on,ppl are going to drink we do work 70 hours a week and want to enjoy out stay but cant we will NEVER come back the place is meant for a bunch of nursing home folks in would rate it negative 5 stars but didnt have it on here! So find some where else to stay!!! Sincerly jeffery phillips from waynesboro ga
Very helpful staff plus in the good hands of the Columbia county sheriffs office fishing docks nice Huge loading and unloading fishing ramps plus two hidden ramps around the corner very clean level sites nice waterfront views clean restrooms nicely priced just had an awesome time going again in November love it.

2022-05-14Great Campground, especially Area 2. The camp hosts are awesome. The sites are well maintained. The bathrooms are very clean and youre walking distance to 3 of the best Disc Golf Courses in the country and the Home of the International Disc Golf Center. One of my favorite places ever.

2022-03-18This is my go to place to stay when I’m not working and visiting family. It’s 15 minutes from the greenbrier shopping center with Publix and restaurants. And 20 minutes from anything you could need in Evans. The spots are big and right on the water. I stayed at site 19 the longest and it was my favorite. Check in was a breeze very easy going out here no one bothers you. If it fits in your site no problem golf cart, boat, etc.

2022-06-07Busy on the weekends but still very enjoyable, and clean. Maybe a little more attention to detail on the playgrounds for critters, wasps, etc. for the safety of the little ones. Dad conducted his own extermination.

2022-06-03We had a great time. We went on a Wednesday and it wasnt crowded at all. We had a small beach area to ourselves and the kids loved it. We grilled, sunbathed, and played in the water. Im definitely coming back to this park very soon.

2022-04-07Great time on the edge of the the Clark Hills Lake. Beautiful views, nearby covered picnic tables, sandy beach that is cordoned off, and tents with power and AC.A Dollar Tree is within 5 minutes should you need anything. WiFi is also available though we could not get a signal from our tent in Area 3.The family and I had a great time with the fire pit. You can purchase amenities or bring your own through Timberland Glamping. Would definitely come back.

2021-10-25Beautiful pull thru spot on the water. Only a one night stay. Great wifi and elec. Camp host was present and helpful. If we were more local, would certainly return to site 35 or the area around it.
