We joined recently and have had good experiences so far. We utilize the first childcare watch of the day at 830 and my 2.5 year old son is always cheerful when picked up again. No issues there so far.The equipment looks well maintained. I often see staff cleaning the machines. The weight section can get a little crowded. Ive had to work out up against a wall in the corner to feel like I wasnt on top of anyone else.I havent tried any classes or the pools yet, so cannot comment on those. Giving 5 stars based off the parts Ive used and the very friendly staff.
I workout in group classes and modify my workout for personal reasons. Its always someone(elderly women)suggesting I do what they expect me to do. How about mind your business and if I ask for assistance Ill ask the instructor!!! Stop worrying about other ppl. You never know what ailments other people have as to why they arent doing the exercises perfect.
I cannot believe how amazing this Wilson Family Y is! GREAT staff! and outstanding trainers and they also have fantastic maintenance crew! My kids would not stop talking about how much they LOVE the daycare! Great staff members i love them all dearly! Honestly when i first signed up they were very friendly and very welcoming Mrs. Doris overall is such and amazing person words cannot explain how much joy shes bring to me my wife and my kids! And there was one moment when i had a problem with my wifes membership the mangers are just far to astonishing and just remarkable! Im speechless already just by thinking about it! Anyways im going to the Y now!! See you all there!!
Don’t even try to use the lap swimming pool, it’s filled with people who aren’t even swimming, but they made a “reservation.” There is wonderful rehab pool that they should be using instead of lap lanes. Then they don’t let you keep your reservation and you get bad mouthed by some high school kid life guard. Then they charge you an extra month after you quit. Absolutely horrible. Much better gyms for half the price and half the hassle.
Best place in the world were adults and kids can be kids. Always clean. Courteous staff and so many programs to suit your fitness desires. Great activities and playhouse for kids. 3 swimming pools and a water park. Fantastic summer time cooling spot for this area. Fully trained life guards. Indoors walking track made of shock absorbing material makes it easy on bad knees and joints. Crossfit and an awesome weight training area with awesome trainers if you like. Safe great environment for a time out during this trying time of covid-19. Bruce, Amber, Mr. Williams, Harold, Josey, Tommy, Doug just to name a few of the great team members ready to assist and help. This is truly my happy place.😃😃😄😄😁😁🤗
Building my kids from out of town for a week, and they wanted to swim for a couple days so we went there and they were very gracious in letting me in since I was a veteran but did not want to purchase a full account. Also the place is amazing its huge and very well maintained.
The amount of classes, equipment, rooms and staff really stands out as a super Y. It is a phenomenal place to work out recreationally and for the betterment of ones physical health. The pool is great, but most of this summer the water has been fairly warm. I prefer cold water though. The lifeguards on staff seem to be very vigilant and adaptable. The dress code helps keep modesty a thing, and allows us to truly have a good family experience.
Great gym with great staff. They really look out for the members of the community and the price for two people is very reasonable. It has everything you need.I would like to see another room with some more free weights and cables equipment because when its crowded these machines tend to get traffic jammed. Also would like to see a space dedicated to stretching / mobility exercise.
I went as a guest to play some novice pickleball at 9:00 a.m. on a Monday. The front desk staff was courteous and polite. Ace the pickleball trainer that supervised the novice Court took a good deal of time explaining the game and a few of the nuances. He did a great job. I met some pretty cool people and played three games of pickleball.
Really enjoy this Y! Can be busy at times, but thats normal for any gym. The staff is friendly and helpful and the place is kept clean. My only gripes are the chlorine in the pool being so strong that it stings the nostrils just walking down the hall towards it. Also it would be very nice if someone could take an extra minute in the morning when they open to go ahead and turn the dry sauna on so its ready to when people walk in.
I want to say that I would never send my kids to the YMCA summer camp again. My child was in tears expressing to me the way the camp counselor yelled at him. People like that should not be in the position of working with children. It has been a huge disappointment sending my kids there. Due to COVID and my job, we had little choice. I hope the staff will learn to treat children there with love and professionalism, and not tear them down by belittling them. I reported this situation to the manager/director and only hope for improvements in the future so other kids won’t have the same experience as mine.
Nice size. Friendly informative persons involved.Offer health work up with membership. Warm pool is available with therapist for fee. Also, has time in which those not in any of the paid sessions may use the warm pool.Childcare options while work out is available in childrens play area.Nutritional bar complete with smoothie options. Other options are available. Many exercise machines available. Cleaning spray bottles available to keep equipment germ free and clean.
Where do I start?! I love this place! ❤️ The employees are always welcoming with a smile and quick to assist in anyway they can! Very VERY military friendly and understanding with PCS moves. The childcare is wonderful! The trainers and instructors are fabulous and the crossfit box and coaches are some of the best Ive ever seen! The outdoor splash park is WONDERFUL for kids of all ages. If youre looking for a family gym, this is the place!
Superb facilities. you need to wait a bit in the queue for getting some administration work done but yeah once you get to the desk they work speedily and very efficiently. the pool is very clean and the life guard eager to teach swimming to anyone who would ask for. the changing rooms are clean too. loving the facilities.
My wife called to find out what time we could take our one year old into the indoor pool for some water time. She was told that it was open and available (this was around 8). When we got there about a half hour later, we were told it wasn’t family swim time, but the water class instructor said we could stay through her class. Sucks that we called ahead to avoid that seeing as we’re new to using the pool area & were given wrong information. Thankfully they were accommodating, but still was aggravating.
Great place for kids, great place for anyone. Prices can be a bit steep depending on what it is you are trying to do there, but overall they have a great family-friendly attitude, the swimming instructors are amazing, and the facility provides an array of different services from just working out to swimming courses for toddlers.
I love the nursery staff at this Y! They always remember my little guy and are excited to see him! They have a huge number of group exercise classes; the WERQ class is my favorite! The pool area is great for little ones with the wide variety of pool options, from the splash pad to the two baby pools. They also offer CrossFit at this gym (included with your regular membership!!!) which is an awesome deal. We are very happy to be members here!
This gym is actually nice . But it would have been nice if they gave me a tour and they only give you one free day pass and if the managers heidy she was alright. I felt like I was not welcomed they didnt really say much about the gym seem like they are there for the money 💰 They need to do better on there costumer service skills .
Only got the membership to play basketball. Both both gyms are always closed for kids basketball. They shut down BOTH gyms for 12 or so kids to play when every night easily 30 to 40 adults want to play. Makes no logical sense. They should share the courts or at least let the men who pay for their membership to play ball whenever they’ want in the smaller other gym. There’s no reason behind this insanity.
This establishment is very unprofessional. My children have been attending the Summer Camp and it has been the worst experience ever. I rather deploy again than send my kids to this camp next Summer. The staff is unprofessional, and do not work well with the kids. The staff are disrespectful and have an attitude when I inquire about my son being bullied. And to top it off my son has informed me tonight that he has been called stupid by a counselor. And this staff actually have the audacity to wear shirts that says role model I would never ever ever want a child of mines to follow the behavior Ive been witnessing this summer. Do not bring your children here for camp if you actually love them and dont want them traumatized. The KROC center never was this complicated.
Shady business practices, which is sad considering the Bible verses on the wall. Theyll only let you cancel in person, but theyre going to charge you an extra payment at the end which they dont tell you about up front. Gym is usually overcrowded and lacks equipment unless you want to be on an eliptical or treadmill. The pool--which is why we joined--has limited hours of operation and is usually very crowded.
With an indoor track, plenty of exercise equipment, multiple multi-use basketball courts, an indoor pool, outdoor pool/play area, and sports fields, this complex provides a great value for your dollar. There are many corporate discounts available, as well, to save you a bit each month. Some of the equipment is a bit older and the communication/marketing aspect is a bit lacking, so the group fitness schedules can be a bit tough to lock down from time to time.
I took my kids to the gym and left them in the childcare at the Wilson YMCA in Augusta. My 21 month old son was badly bit by another kid. No one said anything to me and no one filled out an incident report because they weren’t paying attention. This happened on 1/11 and it is now 1/20 {9 days later} and the round bite marks from another child’s teeth are still on my sons face. The puncture hole and scrapped skin took a couple days but those have healed. The gym is nice but I’ll never go back because of what happened to my baby. I understand children bite but to not be notified, that is very upsetting to me especially since it was a deep bite that hasn’t gone away in 9 days.
Ok. It’s crowded! The staff at the front desk are always on their cellphones. If you scan & they don’t see your picture because they aren’t paying attention they want you to rescan. Get off the phone. You can’t utilize the gym floor mon- fri evenings due to the YMCA b-ball youth league practicing. The daycare staff are pretty cool & the childcare area for older kids is cool. This location is just bigger. It has an indoor track that’s best utilized on early mornings & Sunday’s. Just know it’s usually crowded here.
If you want to swim laps come very late. The pool has all type of swim classes and only has two lane open during the week. Kids bouncing basket balls down the hall all the time causing people to trip when the ball gets away from them. It would be great if there was a no bouncing ball rule off the court. Young kids hang out on the run track on the second floor causing bottle necks on the already small in door track. At time it obvious that some use the Y as a date night. Parking is a nightmare. The Y gives away memberships which has made the Y so congested with the free memberships that paying members cant use the facility. Why not have a special day for paying members to use the Y. If thing dont change soon your going to lose at least one paying member.
Customer service could be better. The man at front can be VERY rude..loud and comes across as maybe being pecial needs but there is no excuse for rudeness..I raised two Special Needs kids that I adopted and I never allowed them to be mean and rude. They should give a class on customer service to All employees.
Have been a member for 15 years utilizing their water therapy program for chronic problems. The director for the aquadic therapy pool, and the therapists are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and are accommodating and wonderfully companionate.Ive seen many clients in various stages of injury. Birth defects, neurologic diseases, orthopedic problems are just a few problems here. Many clients regain partial, sometimes complete coordination, and function. In some instances, simply the ability to maintain motor function and mobility in the face of catastrophic neurologic diseases make it well worth the time.
This is a great Gym for the entire family. I love Katies Pool for Aqua Heated Therapy. Two indoor pools, 2 outdoor pools. Kids area outside also. They have free Crossfit for members only. You have to register ahead for classes fill up fast! Sauna, Steam room, Hot Tubs, indoor walking track, out door walking track. Handicap accessible Gym equipment, Zumba, Spin , Pilates, so much more!!! Oh, yeah Day care services, personal Trainer upon request and pay small fee per hr.
This is the Worst Family Y in the Augusta area as far as customer service is considered!!! Especially speaking of the lady at the desk there in the early morning ( rude ). Because of the poor customer service I will not be coming to this Y again. The staff at Marshall Y in Evans is amazing!!
I live in Florida but several times a year come to Augusta to visit my best friend. On each occasion recently, I have come as a visitor with her to the Y for either swimming or Crossfit classes. The pool is really nice, and also the Crossfit family there is very welcoming and non-judgemental, even of my out-of-shape self with very little stamina!!!
This is a great and affordable gym. They have a weight room, cardio room, many group classes, indoor pool, outdoor pool, basketball courts, indoor track, and a CrossFit room. The locker room for men had a few broken lockers. There could be more than one squat rack. Besides that I enjoy working out there. Membership here gets you membership at several CSRA locations.
They need Monitoring in the Locker Rooms, as CHILDREN are NOT ALLOWED in Adult Locker Rm, Showers, Steam Room, Sauna, or Jacuzzi. Some members with kids cant seem to follow the rules of clearly posted signs (or simply cant read) in the areas that are NOT DESIGNATED FOR KIDS to run around freely, play, cry, screem, make a mess, throw tantrums, have pouting fitts, while their parents yell and scold at them in there, nor should the rest of the Adult Members who are trying to use the Adult Amenities, have to put up with that. Theres an area with Family Locker Rooms + Family Showers and monitored pool, just for them to release all of that energy there, both parents and kids. Some Members have dependents with disabilities who are limited and in NEED the Amenities of this location, and can follow rules by using the areas designed for people who have no disabilities vs. ones that do, regardless of going there together. Parents with kids SHOULD do the same. Theres areas for the DISABLED, areas for FAMILIES and areas for ADULTS ONLY. Those who cant follow rules, should be banned from this facility, and go elsewhere.
I give it three stars because compared to Marshall Y it is just okay. But still there are pros and cons...Pros- front desk is much friendlier than Marshall. In fact, marshall should take a lesson. You can always get a machine. Variety of classesCons- The biggest con is a lack of supervision. While working out on a machine upstairs a parent allowed his two teenage boys to play basketball all around my machine and on the track in front of me. This went on my entire 30min workout. At one point the ball even bounced off my machine. When I finished on the machine, I tried to use the weight machines. However, the father and kids were busy literally just sitting on them and bouncing the basketball. This is just one of many examples that have caused my workout to be uncomfortable/unpleasant. There just seems to be more supervision at other gyms so that things like that do not happen...or at least not for long before a worker notices.
This is the 2nd year we have reserved the water park for my sons birthday in the month of September. I can not begin to say how much the children loved it and that every time they say this is the best party EVER!But from the parents point of view we feel the exact same way. From the director Melissa, whom I adore, to the life guards. All the life guards were wonderful one in particular sticks out, Seth, he was continually asking was everything ok and could he do anything for us. We will be booking again. I wish I could give a 1000 star review.
I use to love the YMCA until I tried to cancel my membership to transfer to another YMCA out of town. I was told to contact the account manager of the YMCA I joined (Broad St.) and after three days of leaving voicemails I finally spoke with her and she pass me off to another branch in the Augusta metro area.(Wheeler Rd.) I called the account manager of the wheeler Rd YMCA and she never called me back. I had to drive over 200 miles just to cancel in person. I am very disappointed with the customer service of the Augusta market.
I am very disappointed with Wilson Ymca due to the fact that I paid my money for a camp that has staff members who do not supervise the children. I know they do not supervise the children because my son was incolved in an incident and no adult/camp leader didnt know what happened.
Its a good family experience for a healthy lifestyle and making memories that last.. The staff need to more attentive to cleaning and replacing aging equipment.. The rope in the pool is dry rotting so badly fibers are floating everywhere and floating in the pool, your hair, face, etc.. A broken down car is in the parking lot on blocks.. Looking kinda shabby with that outside.. Waterfall outside has greens slime and needs to be shut off and cleaned.. Mens locker room could use a through cleaning to remove build-up..
Please update your hours on website and use the automated one. Your hours and Katies pool hours change. Im guessing by sitting in the parking lot. Him, check the website. Says open. Im guessing not. Yes, it Easter Sunday. put a holiday schedule on website. Thank you for your consideration. Pamela Hyatt

2022-01-21A few week ago, on doctors order, My wife insisted that we visit the YMCA to see if there was routine or personal trainer who would be able to help me rebuild my stamina. What we found was a mutli-purpose facility that has more answers than questions. It is a very big place with indoor and out door swimming facilities. It is well laid out multi-purpose facility, and IU am sure that I will benefit from being a member. The answer to all of our questions were yes, and there was no hesitation in working with me at a pace which would be my doctors orders. The only hurdle is me, Motivation is the key my rebuilding health and stamina. I am looking forward to working with the trainers at the YMCA,

2022-06-05Clean, well lit, courteous staffUpdate for 6.5.2022 - upon entering the facility today me and my child were harassed by one staff member. We were told that swimsuits were not allowed to be worn through the facility to get to the outdoor pool. This is our 3rd time here and not once was I told that was a law/rule. Nor is it notated anywhere by the front desk. The week before another member caught themselves correcting me about the family changing rooms.I dont get it. The Lord brought us in naked and the same people that are for Christ be the ones that police it all.Mind you the one that harassed us was a white woman. This review probably wont get any steam. The Y has Augusta in a chokehold because the county swimming area is trash.

2022-05-23I understand why they lock the outdoor restrooms at night but when morning comes some one should unlock it. I have to call every time and then get the run around… oh I grab the wrong key, oh let me find someone to open it, oh I sent someone out there 5mins ago(no one comes), oh could you come inside to use it. It’s ridiculous! Such a simple task…get it together!

2021-06-04Absolutely love this place... Customer service is superb and they are truly all about healthy families. They helped me get my account set up and even reserved a spot for the two year old in the baby room 😁...they also offer scholarships and discounted memberships to qualified individuals and silver sneakers for our seasoned adults. So much to offer its amazing. Outside and inside pool now open so take the kiddies and enjoy.

2021-08-07Had a great time. This place is super friendly and so much to do here. Taught a friend how to swim today and it felt so gratifying! I love the fact that theres both an indoor and outdoor pool with a slide! Just had an all around blast here.
