What can I say, this is the best camera store in the south. I bought my first medium format camera here twenty years ago when I was in art school, and Ive bought and sold a ton of gear through this shop. They only deal in used equipment, and you can save a ton of money over new gear. Further and behind everything they sell and are super knowledgeable. They have everything from antiques to vintage Leica and Hasselblad cameras right up to modern pro and consumer level digital camera gear. They are the only place around anymore that still speaks film, and provide students with affordable cameras for high school and college photography classes. Friendly, helpful staff are always happy to help out novices, and can answer any question you can come up with. They also can sell your old gear on consignment which is way easier than dealing with eBay.
Very knowledgeable staff, they can always help me with what I need. been coming here for years and have never had a problem. very fair prices on used items and film. really awesome mom and pop shop. before making your decision about visiting based on negative reviews about film developing, note this: they send the film to a lab to have it developed and send it in batches. the return time is based on how many rolls they get and shipping times. the quality of the prints and negatives far exceeds that of competing companies. it is a little bit pricey to send your film out for development, ranging from $15-$20 a roll but that is solely based on the fact that, unfortunately, film photography is a dying breed. they sell developing chemicals and tanks if youd prefer to not wait, worth the investment in my opinion.
Very friendly, helpful, and knowlegable staff. Brought in an old Olympus film camera with a broken shutter. The man with the miracle touch fixed it, then took the time to explain to me what the issue was and how to care for my camera. I will definitely be back for any other issue or question I have with any camera.
I highly recommend this store! They have an excellent selection of cameras and a highly knowledgeable staff that will get you the right camera for your needs. I explained I was trying to get into wedding photography, and the Zack not only got me the right camera for the job, but also instructed me on how to set up the camera for good indoor/outdoor shots.
I had a wonderful experience at Wings! I am a high school photo teacher. I took about 35 non-functioning 35 mm cameras in to have them look at possible repairs. The staff was super friendly and extremely knowledgable. They checked each camera and explained what was wrong with it and if it was possible to fix it. I left with almost all of my cameras in working order. I also found out they service enlargers and assist with darkroom set up. What a rare find! I will direct all of my photo students their way to purchase student cameras or get cameras repaired and I will back again for sure! They were awesome!
Employees were very helpful and kind. Place was very crowded and busy compared to what I expected. They sell all sorts of stuff from modern to vintage antique equipment. They have great deals and price to sell. I walked in not expected to buy anything and ended up leaving with a sweet lense & accessories for under $75. Staff has professional experience and really are there to help through the process. Would highly recommend this camera shop to any photographer in the area.
Staff is super helpful! Awesome selection of used camera gear and accessories. The stock changes frequently so I always like to stop in here when Im in the area. Ive bought several cameras here and plenty of film and accessories, and every transaction has been excellent. Hidden gem!
I am a film photography enthusiast and the job they do with all my rolls of film is always impeccable. I have my pictures and slides processed here from 35mm and 110 film (yes!! 110 film indeed! :-) and the results never disappoint me: the colors have a good saturation and the contrast is good too. I always get the best results from my shoots on film. I also get my slides processed and scanned very professionally.I even had my 110 film processed and printed here as I mentioned with perfect results. In the shop I can also find everything I need for my darkroom and my camera, and the staff is always very helpful and friendly. This is absolutely my reference place for any of my photography needs and I would recommend it for anyone who has this same great passion.
I have had an excellent experience both times that i have come here. I like the staff. Theyre honest, friendly, as well as, realistic and fair with their offers based on a well balanced mind set of youre trying to make money and so are they from the purchasing and selling stand point of their stores business. They are knowledgeable of the products they buy and sell. All around great place with great people. Should definitely check this place out for all of your photography needs that they are able to offer. Thanks guys, yall rock.
These guys are great highly recommend for anyone looking for some older film equipment really knowledgeable, friendly staff. Cool Store with lots of items they also offer film development I am currently waiting for them to receive a new shipment of 35mm film to buy from them will definitely go back. Thanks guys
I recently called to see if they could help me with a speedy repair that I hoped to have done within a couple of days before a photoshoot.though the repair itself could not be done within my set time restraints, the employees were extremely helpful and suggested a temporary solution until I could address my cameras damages.Very kind with their words and considerate of your needs. Thank you!
My first and only time in this shop, I brought in two nearly identical cameras. One to be fixed and the other because I just hadnt taken the film out. After looking at one to determine that it couldnt be fixed because of the brand (i later got it fixed, and the other lab taught me how to do it myself), the person took my second camera to the back to take the film out as I filled out the forms for pick up/delivery. A couple of days later, I discovered my Zeiss lens was missing and replaced with something else. They are dishonest thieves, who arent as knowledgeable as they would have their client base believe.
Its great to see a camera store (most have closed). They offer a wide range of products, develop film and have friendly & knowledgeable staff. They have an amazing amount of used equipment that includes a bin of $10 camera lens...great deal.If you are interested in photography, pay them a visit.
A real mom & pop store that is both friendly and honest, with either opinion or advice. I sold them equipment from my old film photography days, some of which they declined but the ones they bought gave me excellent prices for. They also stock hard to get items as well.
I went in today to return some merchandise that was purchased the day before. The return process went well and afterwards I brought in my DSLR to have the sensor cleaned. They told me to leave everything in my bag and they took the bag back to the back and cleaned the lenses and the camera which was more than what I expected to receive for the price. I would recommend anyone looking to get the sensor and lenses cleaned to Wings Camera & Digital. They take very good care of their customers.
Edit: 6 months now. Poor attitude. Other more decent camera stores that don’t discriminate or disappoint.Zach (or Zack?). Do you remember breaking the battery door off my Canon AE-1 while handling it? You said you would contact me when you had another door to replace. It’s been 3 months and I still haven’t heard from you.
I was first introduced to Wings many moons ago when I wrote an article about them for Patch. Since then, Ive used them for any camera need, whether its cleaning a lens on my DSLR before a trip or selling a telephoto lens I wasnt using. Its fun to just look at all the neat cameras on display, too, and if youre taking photography classes, this would be a great place to buy supplies like paper and film. Im glad this store is here and Im glad that really nice folks work here.
The staff was sitting around talking when I walked in and didn’t bother to stop their conversation once I they saw me. Awkwardly waited there for about 45secs until some finally acknowledged me. The staff member asked me what was going on and I told him. He didn’t even bother to look at the camera before he suggested another place to take the camera. The staff is lazy and not interested in working. Borderline rude and I do not recommend. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.
So the store doesnt look like much from the outside but the staff was super friendly and they cleaned my DSLR and lenses. Id say Mike (I think) did a great job and made sure it was really clean as opposed to just telling me it was clean and I probably wouldnt know better. He took the camera outside shot a few tests and showed me where it was still dirty (way cropped into the image and I wouldnt have known). I would recommend it for a cleaning (granted I have not had a cleaning done elsewhere).
The folks there are extremely nice. However, I took my cameras in to be cleaned and they actually made it worse. I asked if he could clean a 1DX and a 5D mk III. Of course he said they can clean anything. After a few test I kept pointing out all the spots on my sensors that were still there. There was actually more dust after he cleaned it. He kept trying to clean it over and over only to move the dust around to different places. Again nice people, but I dont recommend getting your gear cleaned there.
I was in yesterday to buy chemicals to start developing black and white film at home. The 2 guys helped me with everything I needed and gave me professional advice to get me started. I haven’t developed film in 10 years and I got perfect results. I will always go back for all my film needs!
I’ve lived near ATL now for 10 years and have been unable to find a good camera shop for the past few years. For some reason the other day I decided to search yelp for camera shops again and lucked on Wings Camera. It’s been here for YEARS and I never knew it :(. I went and got my digital camera sensor cleaned for a VERY reasonable price and grabbed some film on the way out. It’s getting harder to find stores like this nowdays and it’s always a treat to visit one. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Mike, the owner was a super guy. I look forward to doing business with these folks again soon :). EASY 5 Star all the way for me.
This is a great camera store with some of the most helpful and knowledgable employees in town. Ive bought several cameras from Mike. Some Ive bought to try a new format at a ridiculously affordable price, such as the Bronica ETR system that rekindled my love for film, and some are decorative or just cool to have, such as the 1950s Kodak Retina, Pentax Auto110 SLR or others. The staff is also extremely helpful if you have how to questions during your shopping process (taught me how to load my granddads Ikoflex TLR, e.g.). Overall, a great store with a great team and fair pricing. Thanks, Wings - youre the enabler of my camera habit.
Messed up my film processing. Asked for a develop and scan of five rolls. They developed 4, only scanned 2, for some reason printed 1 and only developed the last... that fifth roll you may ask? Yea im not sure where it is either. This whole process has also taken about a month and a half or more. Not to mention when i called to check in and they were rude. I asked for an update on my order and the man who answered very snappily said “well have we called you yet? No? Then its not done yet.”I love shooting film and working with developers because i believe in the local camera store but no wonder people usually just send their stuff off or order cameras off ebay. Id love to get that fifth roll back, but ill never go in that store or give them money again.
Went here to get a camera repaired - not knowing that Minolta isnt even in business anymore (yes, I am an amateur) - and ended up buying a new (used) camera on a whim. After explaining what I was looking for/needing to photograph, Casey guided me through the purchase without being pushy or to expertish. The Canon ended up being the perfect choice for me, my Alaska photos came out great and the Aurora Borealis photos were AMAZING (if I must say so myself :-)). Thanks to Casey and Wings Camera for being one of those mom and pop type places that you really just dont find to often these days. I will be back.
The Wings Camera team are all film shooters and exceptionally knowledgeable. They have a constantly changing inventory of film cameras in all formats as well as super 8 movie and poloroid. I visit weekly and frequently walk out with a surprising and bargain new bit of gear as the used inventory changes. They also stock chemistry for black and white and color film developing, real photo paper and used enlargers. If you are an analog film shooter in the Atlanta area you must go here and see these great folks. I have bought several cameras there in the last few years including Leica, Mamiya and Yashica TLR - all working and a joy to use! Go see!
I had a horrific experience from a customer service standpoint from this establishment. Mike the owner spoke to me in a VERY condescending tone from the moment I walked into the establishment. I dont want to suspect racial bias, but I observed how Mike dealt with an older white man of about 40 years of age. Completely different energy. I will NEVER spend my money with this establishment EVER AGAIN.
Mike is a great person to deal with. His knowledge is most appreciated. Ive been a 40+ year Leica shooter, and learned new and valuable information about the Leica M cameras from him. Thanks! The M4-P was clean and near perfect, yet priced at, or below anything else on ebay.
These folks are the BEST. The owner (president) Mike Morrison is a pro, as is his staff. Mikes dad owned Colonial Films in Atlanta many years ago -- and it was MY dads favorite place to go at lunchtime. Mike continues the tradition. I just looked at the business card - goes back to 1912! Boy, is that a rarity in Atlanta. Way to go, folks. Theyre in Williamsburg Village Shopping ctr at Bcliff and Clairmont -- worth the trip from wherever you start.
Im really not one to bash a business. But what an absurd encounter.. I call in to ask how much it would be to develop a roll & get photos wetransfer or digitally sent over. A women puts me on hold then a man answers and says, WE CANT HELP YOU! YOU CAN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE W YOUR BUSINESS. DO YOU WANT A NUMBER TO A DIFFERENT PHOTO PLACE?! *hangs up on me*I call back and ask why he did that and if we could work something out to get my photos at least developed and on a CD then if thats really the only way. (is this 1999?)The women explains we have been open for 105 years and this is how we do it down here in the south. (I had previously explained I recently moved from NYC and they charged 5/roll, 2/cd or zero for the we transfer.... (reasonable pricing, I develop 20+ rolls every two wks roughly)So paying some crappy, backwards, 100 year old camera shop $15/per roll... is BONKERS!Youd think customer service would be a little nicer down south. But nope, just a super disrespectful approach to my questions. They dont even develop on site.. so that is why the prices are insane. Thats all the man needed to say.. unwillingness to work with local artists that plan to contribute loads of money continuously developing film is sure way to get a bad rep. Unprofessional. Rude.Dont give them your money.. its kind of bizarre theyve been open as long as they have honestly.

2022-03-13This is awesome camera shop to get all of your original branded second hand products. Like Nikon caps or canon batteries. They also have newer stuff too! But a lot of second hand and retro stuff. If you get past down an old camera or find one in a shop and have questions come here! They have the answers. They also develop film as well!

2022-03-14Something was wrong with a camera I had purchased some time in November/ December. I took it to them to get a general inspection on it and they found the issue and let me trade it out no problem. I wish I had gotten his name but he took me outside and showed me so many cool things with the lens I was getting. Very helpful shop.

2022-07-23So I had brought in my Minolta XK & XD7 to figure out if it was working. The night prior I was stressing myself out trying to find a solution for the XD7 since it took one picture and stopped working went through many YouTube videos but at the end I just gave up, and I didn’t even know if my XK worked since it was such an old vintage camera I didn’t even know how to use it. Next day …Basically to summarize everything it was an amazing experience I wish I knew his name but he was wearing a mask and he taught me how to use my XK step by step. My XD7 on the other hand had some issues but besides that everything else went swell. I’m so excited

2022-07-19The workers were extremely nice, but I was very dissapointed with my service :( I was given half of the digitals and given back film rolls instead of prints while spending over 60 dollars. I guess I didn’t know what I was purchasing?- I don’t know what happened, but it was unfortunately not what I asked for.

2020-01-06Friendly independent camera shop with knowledgeable and unpretentious staff! You can buy film, darkroom supplies, used digital and film camera bodies, lenses, lighting equipment bags, etc.The owner was so happy to show me some really collectable film cameras and the staff was so fun to talk to as well. Alot of customers came in while I was there... they seem to move a lot of used inventory in and out...If you are driving through Atlanta I definitely recommend checking this place out. They had used stock of Canon, Nikon, Sony, Minolta, Olympus, Polaroid, Hasselblad & Leica used equipment while I was there.I picked up some great deals and felt good about supporting a local camera shop too. I only wish a camera store like this was closer to me because they buy sell trade and even do consignment.Follow my travels on Instagram📸 🙋♂️@gabrielcraft.me

2022-02-18Ive gone to a lot of camera stores up and down the East Coast, but this is probably my favorite so far. The size of the store is deceiving because they have a ton of stuff here, and the staff were awesome and seemingly know everything about every last piece of equipment. There arent many of these kind of places, so you should absolutely visit if you ever get a chance.
