Very small park. It is located downtown though, so its to be expected. Equipment is upkept and modern. Upside; the park its right next to the river. Great view and activities if you fish or kyak. A new path and railing are just being put in that lead along the river so it gives a nice walk/jog. There is also water pads for the summer. Downside; the bathrooms are absolutely horrid.
Columbus Georgia is a great getaway from Atlanta. Id even call it like a mini Atlanta. Water is everywhere. You have the riverfront, and 2 or 3 lakes close by. The riverfront has restaurants and a great vibe. Columbus State University is right there, so you have students intermingling with the crowd. There are historical plaques as you walk through downtown that give you a brief history read about Columbus. A very easy going energy in Columbus.
Love this park! I walked my dog here a lot in the summertime when the bugs were bad everywhere else and they obviously do a very good job of treating for pests because I didnt get bit by a mosquito even once! Kaiser loves seeing all the new people here and getting to run around on the rocky areas! We took pictures on the little peninsula area made of rocks and theyre some of the best pictures Ive ever gotten of my beautiful baby boy ❤️
The kids do love it, and we like the way they did the ground under the equipment, but it definitely needs some repairs and updates. The splash pad part is pretty basic and not comparable to others that have been I stalled around town in the last few years. Its scenic and certainly in a good place, but I would love to see some updates.
It was food truck night at the Woodruff Riverfront Park although it was postponed for week due to the weather it was an awesome redo on the date we had such a great time my friends and I at the food truck we had slushies we have pretzels we had BBQ beef rib tips Jamaican-style that stuff was so awesome cant wait for next year the food truck rocks
The main areas of the park are nice and well maintained. I enjoyed riding along the river. We rode 7 miles and the path was mostly flat. There was a few areas where trash was piling up and it looked like people were dumping trash in one spot. The trail signs were dirt and hard to read. Also there were lights that had fallen over. Definitely needs some upkeep along the trail.
Beautiful River Walk! So much to do here! River rafting, zip line across the Chattahoochee River, splash pad & playground for the kids. Theres also a great variety of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Many events are scheduled throughout the year, also Columbus State University has their theater located here, we enjoy going to see a show now and then.
Beautiful park! My family has a great time everytime. The splash pad is big enough for a ton of kids, as is the connecting playground. Theres ample shade. We put a blanket out under a tree and picnicked all day! THE ONLY DOWNSIDE, WAS THE SMOKERS. Smoked on the playground and it blew in our faces a lot.
Super fun playground for the kids. I loved the soft rubber surface and the variety of play stations. A couple of things werent in perfect condition, but thats to be expected on a heavy traffic playground. Really close to good food and beverage options, so you can grab some and take the kids over to play while you eat/drink.
We just love wood that is ruff and gorgeous views both available in plenty at woodruff park. We took a short stroll as we came in at sunset two dogs who wondered where we may wonder tails wagging .Our questions answered and our curious canine condundrum solved we watched the sunset together a great spot for any date .
Nice area. A little crowded but its a park. Kayaking on the river rapids, ziplining across the river from Alabama to Georgia and vise versa. Plus plenty of reassurance to eat at. A major downfall is parkIng, and that the homeless took over the bathrooms there and forced everyone to the porta-johns.
Nice scenic view of the river. Well light for a night walk. Family appropriate, but everyone enjoying walking, sitting, the park, food, and access to the water too. There is an island, but it was locked by a gate to cross the bridge (night hours). The old water mill and dam along pathway on walk. There were frogs on the sidewalk... Shined phone flashlight in eyes and petted a few of them😂
This is a beautiful park for everyone to enjoy! Whether you want to throw a blanket out and just people watch or if you want to fish, you can. The kids have a cool, interactive playground and a very popular splash pad (for the grown kids also!)!! There is always something going on here that is fun! Try it, you will love it!!!
Really lovely. The development along the River is so impressive. I know this area is the gem of Columbus. Enjoy Downtown and stay there too. The people planning the area along the River are dutiful and want you to have a great experience for you, family and all ages. How nice this is to have in West Georgia
Excellent park. This place is always clean. I like the passed ground. Having a two year old I dont have to worry about him getting hurt if he falls. He also loves the splash pad and walking down to the river and watching the rafters and zip liners. Wish the parking was better though
Great park to bring your little one. All ages were represented. Bring sunscreen as this is an open area playground. The only thing we would have enjoyed seeing would have been a mesh (of sort) railing tracing the park on the river side. We did not see a bathroom or water fountain but we were not searching for them.
My 3.5 year old loves coming here, and although I always monitor my kid, she has a little bit of freedom to wander on her own without me being worried. She loves the easy stuff, but enjoys the challenging things even more. I wish there were more swings, and that it was covered better, but will always visit, especially the splash pad during the summer!!!
Super beautiful, super cool, super fun. This river walk is one of the best I have seen across the country. The river and city scapes are wonderful. The park is very clean with only a few homeless when we were there. The pedestrian bridge had nice seating and nice planters. The old buildings on the river are great and many are being renovated into beautiful old meets new architecture. Really clean streets and public bathrooms. We did get chased a little by a begger. Many nice food joints nearby as well. This is an I-65 detour worth making.
This is a great place, the new playground is favored by the kids and it is large too. The splash pad is a great place for them to cool off as well. It is a bunch of fountains that shoot water about eight feet in the air that the kids can run through. Clean and a good area with plenty of other things to do, one block down from broadway, up against the river walk.
So fun. Super great on sunny days !!!!! Love this place so much . Great for running and exercising. My children love to go out here and hang out with their dad and kites and toys and games. Do not go when it is raining, unless you are sad and need somewhere to walk or hang out.
Such a great place to relax and play on the chattahoochee! Beautiful walking area and sight seeing spot! Just wish there was a little more police presence. It seems like a lot of homeless hang out here and Ive never seen anyone of authority come and make sure people are enforcing the rules. Also if you come here, please pick up after your self there is a surplus if litter
A great place for family fun, and a cool place for visitors. You can jog, ride bicycles, fish, kayak, ride the rapids for 12 miles along the river, and you can zipli e across the river. Plenty of places in the area to eat because its right downtown. Its pretty much the place to be if the city of Columbus is putting on an event. There is a small splash park and a decent kids playing area as well. Plenty of old industrial building to look at while on the actual river walk too.
Joined my 5 yr old nephew and brother on their day of fun at the splash pad and playground. They have a neat music area with drums, etc. Seems like all age groups were covered in my opinion. We watched people do the zipline across the river too (really cool). The only draw back I saw was that there was nowhere to buy refreshments for our Lil ones. But you can always bring your own bottled waters, etc. Nice and clean environment. Later we visited an ice cream parlor a few blocks up the road that sells by the ounce with all kinds of weird toppings. It was 😋 delicious.
This downtown Riverfront is awesome, on a beautiful day you can enjoy the entire area around you. Store fronts for shopping, restaurants, walking, biking, ziplining, boating, rafting & other water activities. I loved the trail that leads almost around the waterfront & very active. Two thumbs up!💯
Great place to have a nice walk with friends and family. Ocational concerts to attend and other local events. Water activies such as water rafting and fishing along the river can be seen from time to time. Also close to few restaurants and close enough to downtown where more local dining and bars can be found. Overall perfect place to have an enjoyable day, evening or night out.
We love this place. Good for a walk, letting children play in the park, and even has a nice little water park feature. Even though the water park feature is down right now, we still love this park. The musical park of the play ground has percussion instruments with drum sticks connected to the instruments by strings and we have a ball making all that noise. If you would like to see a video of us playing at this park then search my YouTube channel:PhatDookie 420, then search for Woodruff Riverfront Park for the videos. Thank you for reading my review and for your time.
Except for the steep steps, this makes up a huge part of the beauty of Columbus Ga. Walking, fishing, bike riding, whitewater rafting, zip lines, kayaking and kayak rentals, playground, picnic area and a huge splash pad to cool off! Theres something for everyone to enjoy!
This is a great area for family, and kids alike the people are so genuine. No race issues just people enjoying life I often take my grandson and Im always amazed at how people of all culture act as simple American people, that what America stand for . The Riverwalk is awesome so its 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟isnt my opinion 😎😎😎😎.
Small park, but its right off the Chattahoochee River, so you will have quick access to the Riverwalk. The park has a nice playground area for kids, plus little stores across the parking lot, including the Whitewater Express for anyone interested in river rafting/kayaking. There are only a few parking spots available, so find the parking garage about 150 yards away on Front Street for free!!!
In the last few year there is so many changes that have taken place. From the Whitewater Express experience for the older kids and adults to the Splash pad and playground that they just recently finished for the younger ones. There is also the beautiful Riverwalk. This park used to have nothing for the families, but has changed for the better and I love taking my family to this clean and will maintained park.
This is a beautiful Riverfront Park on the Chattahoochee River in Columbus Georgia. They often have events or small concerts here. Theres great views of the Chattahoochee. Its a wonderful place to watch the sunset. They have post where you can hook up your hammocks and relax. Overall its just a great place!
This is an amazing outdoor park with water features for kids to play at all times of the year. I took one star off because the playground equipment constantly needs attending to; most recently, the cables that secure the drumsticks to the musical instruments are fraying which could give kids metal splinters.
I remember when they were building the riverwalk around I think 93 94 give or take. I was sad they did not make it more of a natural walk with nature type thing. When it was built they said it is made so it will never get flooded out. Lol yeah I could not get over the fact that their tools were still warm after finishing and first big rain flooded it all..lol over the years it has grown and changed and I can say running away to this place sometimes when I wanted to break is what helped keep me going. I love it!
There is always something going on here and in the area. Went to a food truck festival and that was really fun. Through out the year there are different events. Fourth of July fireworks etc. When There isnt an event, its a nice park and RiverWalk area. There is a zipline and river rafting to do. Around the corner, is Broadway and a great eating areas and club/lounges.
This area is a gem in Columbuss hat! Its one of the main reasons my lovely wife and moved here!Columbus has frequent events here, from (our favorite) Food Truck events to concerts (on both sides of the river!) to nature walks and all the activities that center around the river which separates us from our Sister City, Phenix City, AL and is a short walk (or drive) across the bridge. You can kyakk in the river, fish or just dangle your toes in the cool water!Even better, Historic Downtown is just a short walk from the park and there are plenty of eateries and even a coffee shop or two, imcluding our fave, Iron Bank!Or you can walk the nature trails and in warmer weather, let the little ones run around the mini waterpark! There really is something going on for everyone!
The playground and splash pad are fantastic additions to the park and convenient distance to food and shopping. Theres always a great event going on. With that being said, the old restrooms are atrocious. They are located halfway down the river walk and are never clean. Im always weary of taking my child with me to use it because quite frankly, it doesnt feel safe. Theres always someone lurking outside. With the brand new facilities, I would think you could budget for some restrooms (preferably with a changing station) next to the play area.
Awesome place to visit especially since it’s close to the best coffee shop in all of God’s creation “Fountain City Coffee” who’s owner is Jud Richardson an awesome guy who has been blessed to have the greatest coffee shop and the staff treat ya like family FCC is a must visit if you ever find yerself within the continental USA it’s worth the drive no matter where yer coming from
We stayed at the Marriott on the Phoenix City, AL side. The river walk goes along both sides of the Chatahoochie River. I’m a walker and Columbus is a fabulous place to walk. Right outside of the hotel is a pedestrian bridge that crosses over to the Georgia side of the river walk. From there you can walk along the river walk, vere up to the quaint town of Columbus to visit restaurants and bars. Or even walk through the historic homes of Columbus reading about its early history! Don’t miss “The Island” along the Riverwalk. An old mill that sits alone. Walk out onto The Island and watch the white water rafters take their turns on the rapids!
Walk! Jalk! Run! Listen to podcasts. Watch people fish. See couples holding hands. Watch kids take selfies in prom dresses. Ride a bike. Watch others ride bikes. Watch people raft and fall in the water. Raft and fall in the water. Walk your dog. Trip and fall on your butt. Listen to a country concert across the river in Phenix City for free. Look at the white water. Take photos of beautiful sunrises. Read a poem. Read graffiti. Exercise! Breathe! Enjoy!

2022-03-05Its always a nice experience. A lot of families right at the front, near the park and by the white water island in front of the loft. There are a lot of runners and a few bikers.

2022-05-11Such a great park. The playground equipment is relatively new and well maintained. The Riverwalk itself is so fun to enjoy as a family and when the splash pad is working/open it’s that much more fun!

2022-04-03My daughter loves going there to ride her bike and play on the playground. Only issue is have is the limited parking spaces available. Other than that its an amazing place to take your child to play.

2021-09-10Very interesting place with many things to do. We spend a couple hours overlooking the park from a restaurant having beer on the patio. Its also a couple blocks from the entertainment district for places to eat and drink.

2022-04-05The Columbus Riverwalk is one of the highlights of the city. With all the new restaurants and bars downtown, you can truly spend an entire Saturday downtown and not run out of things to do. We went to a food truck festival recently and the venue was set up very well. If I was rating the festival, Id give it a zero because of the lines. But this is a park review. Take your dog and your family and leave the phones in your pockets. You wont regret it.

2022-02-11Great place for an early morning run. Stay on the lighted path because the homeless population are probably present. Also, there are some construction fencing near the park but it doesnt block the entrance to the trail.
