I came here in maybe 2003/2004 and had an okay time. I remember the class locations were super far apart through fields and unmaintained trails, and I definitely remember the bathrooms being a nightmare. The staff back then was decent, but didnt provide much unscheduled free time for us, felt like we were rushed from class to meeting to powwow to meals and more classes. Looking back, that could have just been trying to organize 11 year olds and keep them focused on scouting, but it was a little intense for introverts. (could have been a troop thing not a camp thing) All in all glad I went.
Oh my goodness! Twenty eight years ago I came along with the Boy Scouts at a Church that I was attending to this wonderful place Woodruff. I have made such great memories from all the great activities at this place. I was just rummaging through my stuff, and I found one of the patches that they gave me from 1992 when I was there. I had to put a great review for it.
Definitively one of the nicest scout camps ive ever been too. They have great facilities and a huge range of programs. I visit this camp several times a year and they are always adding new things and making even more improvements. They just added a new pavilion outside the dining hall and it looks great!
Wow, what an amazing place and staff. Our Troop 217 was here for 2017 summer camp #7. All the merit badge classes were top notch. Food not bad, but there was an adult area with better choices for us. The boys couldnt choose just one thing in camp that was their favorite thing. Although we did do white water rafting but that was off property. I have been hearing from others that the horse back riding was fun. The facilities and tents were nice no problems. I can see that if the camp was fully loaded extra porta potties for just that would be helpful. Out of all that, We will be Back!
We plan every year for our boyscout pack during the fall time to camp there. Nice facilities for camping has showers for hot and cold water. Kids friendly and has places for tents. Woodruff camp is a big site and lot to explore. Contain a decent size lake for fishing and good for campfire. prepare for cold weather
This camp ground was amazing! I came here with my 2 kids and our cub scout troop for two nights of camping, but the grounds and potential activities were so great that Im going to try to figure out how to come back myself. I want to do summer camp here! The swimming in the lake looked fantastic and those who went fishing actually resulted in a few people catching some rainbow trout. The activities fields were great, although the kids in the cub scouts spent nearly all their time in the Gaga ball courts near camp site 10.The camp site we were in, site 10, offered 2 different bathroom facilities but only a single electric point. Several wooden platforms for smaller tents were available, but I pitched on a flat dirt spot near a big rock that served as my cooking table. Next time Id move to the grass to cut down on dirt in the tent.Awesome spot - cant recommend highly enough
So it is a really nice camp for boyscouts and merit batches are not to hard. My friends said that the shooting sports merit batch teachers are strict and the class was not realy fun. Rather than that l had a good time and the food was good and you could get vegetarian options as well.
Was very fun most of the food was decent. The reason i give it 3 stars is because some of the staff were very VERY mean and had no patience for children I want to thank all the staff who are dedicated for this and not just in it for the money. Also the bathrooms and showers are a mess and i dont even want to go because of how bad they are. My Final complaint is how some staff do not know how to teach a class and just do random stuff and thats why sometimes merit badge does not get done a camp just like my emergency prepardness class from last year. But its a nice place 2 have fun otherwise.
It is pretty good. There are ups and downs like that the water from the fountain tastes like copper. There are tons of bugs such as horseflys and daddy long legs but youll get over it. The waterfront is fun but is dirty. The slush puppies are AMAZING. But the bathrooms have thicc bugs in them (I recommend showers #6 and #7 because they have hot water in them and they are less dirty). The food is ok but the adult food was WAY better. Overall, the week was good but I am happy to go home.
This year Woodruff converted to self serve buffet style on the meals. The staff bragged they can now serve 1200 scouts in 20 minutes and with reduced waste. While true, what we saw was the boys skipping the food and grabbing a stack brownies/desserts every meal. The lack of supervision by staff and line gating made it impossible for adult leaders to govern. At least with the old method the boys were limited on the desserts. High five for efficiency, low five for nutrition.

2022-06-23This year I worked at Woodruff in the dining hall for 5 weeks, after working it last year for a week. I just fell in love with this camp, its setting in the Georgia hills, the camp staff are awesome, the opportunities it afforded my scout in leadership skills as a CIT, the programs that they offer are outstanding. We drove up from Texas to be part of the team. Will be returning again next year. What an experience.

2022-03-15Went here last year, had the time of my life with my friends, counselors are very welcoming and energetic, every morning they had a skit and a newspaper activity after the flag ceremony. My troop consists mostly of girls, and received several comments about it, but they addressed the issue publicly and made us all feel validated. Overall a great time.

2022-07-14It is very pretty and has cool sights, but that staff is just the most unenthusiastic people compared to any camp Ive been to.

2018-06-04Love the views with a lake with tee pees on an island and mountains in the background. Dining hall has a beautiful outdoor pavilion with views to a great lawns, flags and lake. Lots of energetic scout volunteers. Lake has small boats, sailing, motorboating and skiing. The are gun and archery ranges. Easily take a 5 mile hike on camp property.
