We were really excited to go back to Savannah to go to a different noodle bar in the area that we loved the last time we were there. We tried this place out as well and this one blew the other one away! The food was phenomenal and fairly priced for a tourist area. The decor was awesome, the food was delicious, and the staff was friendly. This is our new fave noodle place in the riverfront district. Give it a shot!
It’s a nice place to visit if you’re an enthusiastic fan of anime. The walls are decorated with nice murals of anime characters, as well as anime playing on multiple hanging TVs. I also liked the design aesthetic capturing the look of food stalls in Japan. However, the food was not all that pleasant. We started with karaage—Japanese style fried chicken pieces. Karaage’s signature feature is that its breading is satisfyingly crispy. This wasn’t crispy at all. Everything was chewy. It tasted okay, but this was definitely not karaage. I would compare it to a chicken tender that was cut into smaller pieces.Next was the shrimp tempura. I enjoyed it, but I can’t help but feel as if it was pre-packaged frozen stuff. It reminds me of the shrimp tempura that’s included in some of the bento found in convenience stores in Japan. Not worth the price.I can’t complain about the takoyaki. While it wasn’t freshly prepared, it certainly had all the familiar takoyaki ingredients and flavor. When it’s made to order, it’s so hot that steam flows out once you take a bite. This takoyaki was lukewarm, however. That’s okay though. I still got to watch the katsuobushi (bonito flakes) dancing on top.Last item was the vegetable miso ramen. I wish I could say that I enjoyed it, but I didn’t. Miso has such a distinct flavor, but I could barely taste it in the broth. The vegetables did not have a nice flavor or texture. The noodles were nearly identical to what’s contained in instant ramen packages. I couldn’t finish it because it just wasn’t good.Again, it’s a nice place to check out if you’re an anime fan. But if you’re remotely familiar with good authentic Japanese cuisine, then I wouldn’t recommend it.
Wish I wouldve taken pictures of the screens all playing anime inside to show how cool this place is! We both got BYO ramen bowls and I got a large sake to share. Amazing Japanese street food with the ambiance to match. Great prices and a cool condiment corral with different sauces to customize your noodle dish how you like it. Wouldve stayed and watched sailor moon for hours if we didnt have other places to visit. Must try while in Savannah and you have a hankering for ramen!
Ive been wanting to try this place since I first saw it a while back. I finally stopped & got the Grilled Marinated Chicken Ramen Bowl & the Takoyaki. The ramen bowl was delicious & extra delicious with all of the spicy spices. I enjoyed the bowl, but the takoyaki I didnt enjoy. It was repulsive.Im definitely visiting again.
The food is delicious! We loved the pork buns, gyoza, and the stir fry noodles. We came back a second night to get the pork buns again. This place reminds me of my time in Japan. The restaurant has beautiful anime paintings on the wall. They also play anime on the TV screens.
I am sure many would shame me for going to a ramen place first in Savannah but I was craving it! What a cute place. The interior decor and murals are amazing. I loved that they had multiple screens with popular animes playing. The staff was very friendly. And of course the food was amazing! I got gyoza and tonkotsu ramen with chashu pork. I will definitely come back again! 😊🍜
The anime ramen shop of my dreams! My friends and I just happened across this place while searching for a place without an insane wait time for dinner. And one of the best finds of the weekend for sure! Awesome atmosphere with anime murals painted everywhere. Set up with the same amount of TVs as a sports bar they were all just playing a different anime. Very quick service and the pricing is appropriate! I got the pork chashu stir fry with yakisoba noodles and it was awesome! They also have an extensive sake shot selection (with the option of getting them hot or cold). Very good for a quick bite to eat! Will definitely keep this in mind the next time I go to Savannah! 10 out of 10 for sure.
Hands down the best Ramen Ive ever had! We popped in to have dinner while on vacation and YATAI ramen did not disappoint! I had the pork belly ramen in creamy garlic sauce. Still craving this sauce!! My hubby had the Leek and Pork Dumpling ramen in miso sauce! He really enjoyed his meal and ate some of mine too! If you are in the Savannah area, I would highly recommend YATAI ramen!
We stayed at Hotel Indigo and this Ramen place was right outside. Unbelievable atmosphere of you love Anime (my 7 year old is obsessed with Naruto.) This was a no brainer for dinner! The TV’s we’re playing all the anime greats, the music was playing some familiar anime soundtracks as well. Once we ordered our food it took less than 10 minutes to get. My wife had the tonkotsu broth udon noodles with grilled marinated chicken and I had the shoyu with ramen, and leek/pork dumplings. Everything was so flavorful and seasoned perfectly! The staff was also very friendly welcoming everyone in and saying goodbye when we left. We will for sure be back next time we’re in savannah. This was perfection! 5/5.
Reviews looked good so decided to take my mom before heading down to Skidaway Island State Park. Took a second to realize that you order at the counter then find a table. Multiple brotha to choose from, about four different noodles, several different meats and additional toppings for a small charge in addition to what is already included. Went with the Tonkotsu broth, ramen noodles, pork & leek dumplings, added shiitake mushrooms. We both enjoyed our food. Was a little disappointed with service. Had to remind them we were waiting on drinks. Another reminder that our appetizer hadn’t shown up, only to find out they were out so we had to get a refund. This was handled quickly. Would go back for more.
Was excited to go because of the concept of this place but the front counter lady was rude and tbh most of the workers were except for one.Asked for white rice, they didn’t have any even though they had been open for almost an hour. Opted for fried rice instead (even though you need white rice to make friend rice), big mistake. I could’ve made it better at home. It was nasty. The ramen was subpar. Super disappointing. Pork buns were… gummy. The best thing on the menu was the kimchi and the soda I ordered lol.
If you have spent anytime in Japan or Korea, lower your expectations a LOT when you enter the door. To their credit they don’t advertise anything as authentic, so for “American” Asian themed fare it’s on par with average. Anyone reading this who controls the menu, please change everything you sell as “pork belly” to bacon because that’s how thin it’s sliced. The ramen noodles are still in the block shape it comes out of the package, with under-seasoned broth poured over it. The photo is of what we ordered and then left on the table because of the lack of seasoning. Step your game up Yatai. Desperately need a refresh.
One of my most favorite places to eat! The food is delicious, to the point where I get a craving for this place all the time. I highly recommend the pork chashu, it is delicious and savory and goes perfect in the ramen noodles. The atmosphere is nice, though it is very popular and can get very busy. I get takeout sometimes and since the soup is packaged separately everything keeps very well!
The atmosphere was very laid back and heavy anime (Pokemon is where its at). The service was quick and friendly. The ramen, regardless of broth, noodles, or meat is wonderful. Definitely a different experience than what I have had in the past. The self-serve utensil and sauce bar was a bit awkward just because you dont really know what to do, but the food is wonderful; although the pork belly was a little bit dry, probably not typical, I would highly recommend.
This place sits cozy and close to the Savannah River. I LOVE ramen so we had to try. The staff was friendly and our food came out hot and timely! The whole place had an anime vibe which I like!I thought the food could be a bit more flavorful. I thought my broth was a bit like chicken stock and the grilled chicken just taste like... chicken! The veggies were fresh...which is a plus! The crispy chicken bites were okay. It was just nice to try!
This was the first place we ate while vacationing in Savannah. Not just because it’s literally two steps away from the hotel but also because duh it’s ramen & I don’t regret it. It was very delicious and also very reasonably priced. The staff was friendly as well. Also the anime on the walls was pretty dope too.
Over 45 minutes wait, paid for street parking just to eat here. I was so disappointed with the wait and ramen. I wished the ramen was at least worth waiting. Eventually they told us under staffed. So thats the reason for long wait. They were really slow bringing out ramen for people. I could see staffs standing and talking. And so many tables waiting for ramen. We entered the store and had no idea we had to order at the window. We waited for awhile until I asked one of the waitresses for table. Then I came to find out you have to order first then take a seat. The cash register was far away to even know we have to order there. Arrangement of the restaurant is not convenient . To use the bathroom they have code. They provide codes on the bottom of the receipt. I was trying to take the toilet paper out of the toilet paper container and got injured. It was so hard to take toilet paper. It was stuck. The broth was mild tasting. I love the ramen in California
Walked in at 8:45 and waited in line for 8 min. At 8:53 was instructed they were closed, after taking the order of the gentleman in front of me. Total waste of time, Terrible communication, just overall poor work ethic.Half the kitchen was cleaned before even telling me they are closed. Finish your job.
Absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and super tasty. There is a wait sometimes but thats due to popularity not the staff. Its popular for a reason dont miss out. Borderline authentic ramen. You get to pick your broth, protein, noodle type, and extra toppings.
Love it how I got a side of Human hair with my order!Waited over 30 minutes for my food to get served this!Absolutely a joke of a restaurant.*Dont serve unsafe and unfit meals to people and you might not get cursed at.Take note, how the business owner did not mention how he will make sure this doesnt happen for others and what pre-cautions he will take moving forward to ensure safe and edible food.
Did not expect the anime vibe when walking in, but that did not bother me too much. The music was loud for my friend that I went with.Got the takoyaki and karage for appetizers. Takoyaki was great. Karage was just okay. Didnt taste like there was any seasoning on the chicken and the sauce was the normal Thai sweet Chile sauce you can buy at stores. The tonkatsu ramen was bland and the pork chashu tasted like it sat in the freezer too long. Putting in the Chile garlic oil to the broth made it taste a lot better.Pork and Chicken yakitori was not the best. Pork was okay. Chicken was burnt on one side which tells me it wasnt rotated like yakitori should be.
About 45 minutes waiting time for 2 ramen orders, hopefully the broth were freshly cooked to be ready :( --. The soup was not as salty as other such ramen shops, which was pretty good. Actually we were told to wait for 30 minutes, and it was about the time for next business meeting back to the hotel. Luckily we planned time well and the hotel was just one block away. It was certainly not fun at all for 40 minutes hanging around with nothing in the restaurant. By the way, the pronunciation of Yatai means Asian-Pacific in Chinese. But in Japanese, as the post on the wall explained, it means shop stand (sounds like a small food court stand).
Really great place! The ramen and udon is just incredible here. Excellent for a cold night and to get a filling meal. My wife wanted to try the yakitori, but I wasnt crazy about the idea. Glad she was right! Even the tofu yakitori was great! I thought the anime music was cute but a bit too loud, and it was just too much. Oh well, I guess thats the whole point of their brand. In any case, the food was super delicious. I had gone to another noodle place in Savannah and wasnt impressed, but Im glad I didnt miss out on this one.
A Disappointing Ramen Dining Experience. We came to Savannah for the weekend and decided to get some Ramen for dinner. Ive eaten Ramen in several places in the US and have eaten good and not so good ramen. I know good ramen when I taste it since I lived in Japan for three years and had plenty of authentic Ramen.Pros- The hours are pretty good. They are open late. This works very well for us as we got into town pretty late.Others- Depending on how you like your Ramen will determine whether you like Ramen at this restaurant. If you like your Ramen broth with a little less sodium then this is going to be for you. If you like your ramen broth a little more savory then this is not a good place for you.Cons- My Ramen Noodles were a little undercooked so they were a little tough.- My Gyoza was Burnt. I ordered some gyoza and it was a burnt on the bottom. (See photo) The flavor overall of the gyoza was then ruined as the burnt part dominated the taste.Overall I wasnt terribly satisfied, though my wife liked the less savory Ramen broth. I probably wouldnt come back here for ramen.
We visited this little ramen house because my son wanted to try it, and we love ramen so why not, right? Not bad at all. I ordered the Seafood Ramen with a creamy garlic broth and an Asahi beer. Now, ramen Ive had at other places; but this ramen came loaded with mussels, crab, shrimp, shitake mushrooms, scallions and noodles. The creamy garlic broth added just the right notes of omgerd! To the blend. Loved it. Also had the ice cream, which was also fantastic. The beer is a good light beer. Kind of a lighter lager. I usually do whiskey, but Id drink this one again.Staff was super friendly and the place was social distancing. The tables are simple with pull out stools. Plenty of anime on the walls and on big screens. Fun place to eat. Give em a try!
Our first time there because our daughter wanted this food. I shouldbhave checked other reviews before going. We placed what should have been a simple order, however; eight otherd got served before we even saw our order. When we walked to the counter, it was one excuse after another - were not normally this busy on a Monday evening, they messed up the noodles twice, we dont understand where your food is.The workers dont wear serving gloves. The young ladies passing the food constantly brush their hair from their face. I didnt see anyone washing their hands. The (local) health department needs to look into this place with the noticeable infractions. They need more adults that can handle the situation better.
I cannot express how upset I am with my experience here. If I could give zero stars, I would! After ordering our food specifically requesting it without fish cakes or seaweed, my wife and I found a table and seated ourselves. Our Ramen came out lukewarm and with the Naruto fish cake in my wifes bowl (We didnt know at the time that was the fishcake). My wife cannot eat fish but she didnt want to make a fuss and just removed it along with anything that touched it. After attempting to eat the broth and some of the ramen, my wife started getting very sick and was on the verge of tears because she felt so ill. I was confused as we had ordered the Tonkotsu broth (chicken/pork), but upon tasting her soup my senses were assaulted but not just the taste but overwhelming smell of fish. The fishcake was absolutely putrid smelling and contaminated the entire bowl.I went to the counter and addressed that I wanted a refund so we could eat elsewhere which was met with hostility from the girl behind the counter. She tried to tell me that even though they messed up and accidentally put the fish cake in the ramen, the best they could do is give us a voucher to come dine some other time and not get the fish cake then (Again, we specifically ordered our food without). She also explained to me that EVERY BROTH contains fish powder except for the vegan tomato broth. It is not noted anywhere on the menu or disclaimer on it in regards to that. I explained that if someone specifically orders chicken/pork broth--there shouldnt be fish unless otherwise specified, to which she still said the best she could do was a voucher and continued to argue with me about how we shouldve specified that we cant have fish when we ordered a CHICKEN AND PORK broth dish. I told her the voucher will not suffice because we will not be dining at this establishment again to which she finally refunded it, however, it took her boss to finally tell her to give refund. Never have I ever had such lack of customer service in all of the restaurants in my travels. All in all, from someone who has lived in Korea for over two years, steer clear of this place. The outright disrespect for customers as well as the night on the toilet we experienced here are not worth over $15 per bowl of flavorless, fish tasting ramen. Definitely not authentic in the slightest!
We ordered $100.00 of food from Yatai ramen and yakitori to be delivered to our Air B & B. Six hungry people waited expectantly. The delivery-person dropped off half the order and sped off. We only discovered that half our food was missing after she had left. When we called the restaurant, the manager told us that yes, half our order was still sitting on the counter, and no, they would take zero responsibility for getting it to us. Our party includes several people who have mobility issues, which is why we had ordered delivery. We spent an infuriating twenty minutes on the phone with him trying to get him to deliver our food. The lack of care and customer service were astonishing. We will never order from this restaurant again.
This is a fun place to go if you like anime and Japanese food. If youre adventurous, try to eat the spicey ramen bowl under 30 min and win a place on their wall. The soup in most ramen shops is overly salted however this isnt the case with this shop. You can customize your bowl the way you like it with the ingredients youd prefer. Although the noodles themselves dont have too much flavor, there is a good balance in flavor when eating the entire dish together. Dont be afraid to try the non-ramen choices, you wont be disappointed!
Really enjoyed my meal. I got hot peach sake that went well with the gyoza that I got as an appetizer. I went with the Shoyu ramen with bamboo shoots and soft boiled egg added, tasted similar to the ramen I’ve had in Japan. Anime fans will enjoy the decor as much as I did and highly recommend going.
Maybe in Atlanta Im spoiled with so many great ramen options, but Yatai was mid. Both mine and my boyfriends vegan ramen were bland and we each had to add tons of soy sauce and sriracha to make it not tastle like water. Portions were huge, which is a plus, but we didnt really have any desire to eat the leftovers and ended up tossing it.The service and atmosphere were great though and when we came in the Evangelion theme was playing, which is our favorite. 2.5/5 overall
Wow Gluten free Heaven! I dont have celiac but I do have a gluten intolerance. Vanessa, izzy, and Dany went above and beyond to tell me exactly what I could order and asked several times to make sure my food was not contaminated with minutia amounts of wheat including soy! I used to own a gluten free Cafe and juice bar so it was an absolute pleasure watching these girls take care of a allergen customer this way!
Yall just sat my table, rushed us for our other 2 people for the table, them moved us while food was coming out for my friend and dropped the food on a table with a bunch of kids from the party they gave our table, ruining the food for her because they were all over the able, then given a 45 minute wait time and told we couldnt get a refund on the food we never touched. Only bad experience I plan to have here. Thanks for nothing
Fresh, fun and tasty. Anime art on the walls and anime playing on tvs. Japanese street food style ramen, yakatori and more. We tried the ramen (pick your own base broth, protein and toppings), steak teriyaki (reminded me of what I ate growing up on Maui) and pork yakatori (grilled on a skewer with a sweet sauce). Spice it up with your choice of 4 hot sauces. Japanese and Asian beverages on the menu. Covid safety precautions- tables far a part, masks worn, surfaces cleaned, condiments kept in kitchen not on tables, and food and condiments brought to you after ordering at the counter. Would definitely go again.
THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! I went here for the first time in October and it blew me away. The space is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the food is amazing!! Anime plays on all the TVs and there’s even an anime themed Last Supper mural on one of the walls. I ordered the ramen with shoyu (soy sauce) broth and sides of pork gyoza and pork belly buns. The ramen is HUGE and well worth the price. Definitely stop here if you’re in Savannah!
Overall, a 9/10 experiencepros-the place had a super great atmosphere-really clean and organized-they played anime as entertainment-tonkatsu soup was really nice and smooth-the staff were super friendlycons-the ramen took a little while to get out, but it was quite busy when we went in, so it was expected-mala ramen was a bit underwhelming (not very numbing)
Second time coming here and let me say:My experience with their ramen had drastically improved!I ordered their tonkatsu ramen (again) but this time i added their black garlic sauce with a side order of mala broth. The black garlic adds a sweet and savory flavor with its already rich broth and the mala adds a bit of spice; This creates a FLAVOR BOMB! Personnaly i ordered an extra order of their delicious Charshu ( braised fatty pork ) and theyre generous with the portion. Im definantly coming back here and im excited to share this place with my freinds and family!
Delicious ramen restaurant in downtown Savannah. They have a tasty tomato-based vegan broth and vegetarian options (omit fish cake that comes with the bowls). Lots of non-vegetarian options too, obvi. Friendly staff and service. Get there early to avoid a wait. Only complaint was some tables were not 6 apart but thankfully people were seating every other table to physically distance when I was there.
Im a California native whos been here in the Southern US die to military orders..with that said, Yaitai ramen is as delicious as the ramen places I go to at home. definitely deserving of 5 stars. I ordered the shoyu ramen with chashu pork and extra bamboo shoots. I also ordered takoyaki. Everything was absolutely delicious.
Really nice atmosphere, loved the decorations and everything inside, i was thinking Id come here everyday if i lived here even but that was before I tasted the food. Pretty average unfortunately. Maybe i was lucky to have good ramen in the past but it was nowhere near that. Felt kinda sad because people wouldnt know what theyre missing if they taste that for the first time...
The food is great, but the service is not kid friendly or welcoming. I took my husband for his birthday & it was our first time there so we didn’t know how the service worked. We didn’t see a sign to order first THEN sit. We were welcomed, but were not told anything just starred at by all the workers in the front so we sat down since we weren’t told anything (we were sitting for 5-10 mins just the workers up front looking at us not informing us of anything) & eventually went up to order. Besides that the food was delicious, but before leaving we were cleaning up & getting our kids together & again we were just being starred at before even getting up one of the workers came and started cleaning up the table. We felt really rushed & uncomfortable the whole time & it was really slow. It was a regular Wednesday afternoon. We went back a couple months later with some friends & I’m assuming may be the owner came up to us asking how many, it was very busy so he sat me down with my kids and put seats together because it was a pretty big group of us total of 8. So this previous visit which will be our last we went with family who came to visit this time, & I went to sit with my kids while they ordered & was told I couldn’t sit down I had to order first & my husband was already at the register ordering. So we just left. I understand order then sit but I had my kids with me. Not many small kids may go, but my kids do enjoy your delicious food. Talk to your staff to be more kid friendly, informative, & POLITE. Instead of standing around starring at a couple with kids, offer help when customers may not be familiar with your service. My children were no where near misbehaving to be rushed or let alone starred at the whole time.
My family of 6 stopped here during our visit to Savannah and absolutely loved the ramen! The place seemed understaffed and they ended up turning people away which I feel was very smart for the customers already waiting & for their hard working staff to catch up.Overall excellent service & food. Well worth it to stop in and try it out.
First i must preface this with, i lived in japan for 2 years but that being said this wasn’t even Americanized or anything like that, it was just plane nasty. Mine was half cooked noodles with broth that tasted like someone boiled chicken and put the water in my bowl, the chicken in the ramen was basically frozen pre cooked chicken strips thrown in it. I can’t express enough of awful this was and for 15$ a bowl id rather eat a pack of 99 cent ramen of this place
This was one of the best noodle places in town but what really got me was the service. Britney I believe was my server and she was extremely attentive to our needs. Whatever she gets paid, it’s not enough and I will definitely be coming back. Great food but even better service!!
I wanted a ramen shop since that is one of my first stops in the greater Atlanta area. It was in walking distance of my hotel. I had the chicken miso ramen with extras added. It was okay for this area but it was not hot. I am comparing to my experiences of living in San Francisco. My main concern was the service. While I am glad the place hires young people, lets just say that the servers and cashier could be a little more socialable...the cashier was very slow and barely audible over the music playing even when he pulled his mask down to speak up. In addition, the server with a pony tail was asked a question by a child about the silverware. The servers tone in response was not courteous at all. I could see the father giving him a nasty look.Overall, I would have given this place a 4 star review. If I try the place again and have a better experience, I would gladly update this review.
The atmosphere was amazing. However, the food was terrible. I felt very bad for wasting my food but honestly that was no ramen. I made a vegan one and it tasted like water with salt. We also got another ramen bowl and after a few bites we could not eat it. I really hope they fix their menu or management. Cuz the atmosphere was very nice
If I could give more stars I would. It is no exaggeration when I tell you that I have been dreaming of this food since I had it. I do not like to go out (with covid and all that). I did my stalking, looking for the slowest times according to google, bit the bullet, and went in for what was quite possibly the most flavorful meal that has ever passed my lips. Just...amazing. That creamy garlic broth is everything. The yakitori is divine. 500,000,000,000,000 out 5 stars. The atmosphere was artsy and vibrant. It was clean and socially distanced. Do yourself a favor and go here.
Rules first not customer first! They want you to Order ( stand in line) then get a table. No matter you come alone or as a party. There is no waiting zone, let alone seats for the comfort of waiting customers. Staff acted like law enforcers. We chose to walk out and not spend a dime here! As first time customers, we were extremely disappointed!
Just visited here and was immediately blown away by the decorations and atmosphere. The decor is extremely anime inspired which is a very fun and unique experience. The place was extremely busy when we came in, but even with less than ideal amount of staff, we quickly ordered and received our food. We ordered the steamed pork buns and spring rolls for an appetizer both of which were surprisingly good. The ramen, unsurprisingly, was the best part. We ordered the Misu Pork and the Tonkotsu Pork dinner bowls which were not only fairly priced, but also came with a very filling amount of food. The broth and add-ins were both very flavorful warm and delicious. Highly reccomend.
Who serves a lukewarm soup? None other than this restaurant. First of all, I got my ramen noodles after 31 mins of waiting, my sons order after 36 mins, and my husbands after 40 mins. I think they let my noodles sit out instead of being served to me. Soups need to be temperature hot, like steaming hot, when served. And then, I paid for an extra Bok Choy and got few pieces of it back. Like, wth. Certainly, NOT going back to this place, EVER.
I have zero complaints! I do how ever wonder why Sasuke isnt on the wall?! Haha Other than that, I did wait a little time (maybe 20 minutes) for my food but it came out in order and it is in the middle of a very busy place. The noodles were amazing! The service was great, all of the staff were very nice and happy to help. The atmosphere was great, great setup, even the people getting food along side me were friendly. I will definitely be visiting again when I visit Savannah again.
The staff was very helpful with explaining in detail what the menu items where and how they were prepared. We stepped out of our comfort zone on this one but we ended up loving it. We tried the fried octopuses balls and was presently surprised at how good they were! The atmosphere was very energetic, especially if you are into anime. This was definitely a place I am happy to have experienced.
Coming from California, this is and will be the closest thing Ill get to my home grown taste for ramen... with all the atrocious imitations around here, this has by far been my favorite experience in eating this world famous noodle soup. Their presentation of anime on the tvs, fan art on the wall and food was fantastic. Definitely will be back soon!
There is no parking in the immediate vicinity. Found some public parking and got to the restaurant only to be told it was take out only. My daughter was ready to leave, but I said after the trouble of getting there we should take out. They changed their tune and seated us. We have had ramen many times at other restaurants. These were luke warm and were missing the described ingredients. Spring rolls were fresh and hot. VERY EXPENSIVE! For 3 ramen and spring rolls it was $52. Not worth the cost. Very disappointing. My daughter is planning on moving to this area for college. This wont be a place on her go to list and she LOVES ramen and anime.
Absolutely awful pork chashu ramen. Cold and without flavor. Listed protein items like boiled egg were missing.Opens at 12PM but could not take first order to 12:25PM due to staffing shortages. The line is due to lack of qualified staff and not because of popularity. Also, overcharged as dinner ramen price was charged at lunch time. Avoid this place at all costs.
We ordered two ramen bowls and spring rolls. Spring rolls were a little soggy and were more like very tiny egg rolls. Kind of like something you could buy in bulk at Sams Club and keep in your freezer. We both ordered the same ramen and they didnt taste the same. One broth was much saltier than the other. The noodles also seemed overcooked. Toppings were fine. Just overall we felt like the broth didnt have the depth of flavor that we expected. Im not trying to be mean but just my honest experience is that this is the most underwhelming ramen Ive had in my life. Great spot to catch tourists but locals can find better food further into town.Atmosphere was clean, but very loud and bustling, and the staff is very nice.
Usually we are super easy going with restaurants, and we LOVE ramen. We got the tonkotsu and it was so bland my husband and I almost asked for a refund to go somewhere else, which we never do. After adding a substantial amount of soy sauce, salt, and hot sauce, we ate it. This wouldn’t have bothered me if our meal didn’t cost $32, I would pay max $20 for what we had. We were just disappointed because we came from out of town and there were great reviews, now we’re questioning other restaurants around that have good reviews :(
The 2☆ is for the decor and anime playing but the ramen was 0.02☆. Service at the counter was terrible and the person who I assumed was the cook yelled at me when I asked a question about the broth at the counter over the clueless girl taking my order. My ramen with only 4 toppings was $19!! I could have made authentic ramen for 4 people at the house for that much. It was just ok. Beef was so overcooked it was leather chewing and the broth was very bland. The gyoza were the best part but the sauce was saltier than brine water. Never going back for that price. * Beware*Tourist trap*
The absolute best bowl of ramen Ive ever had in my life. Bar none. Little pricey so i was expecting it to be a little underwhelming, but i would have honestly paid more for it than i did it was THAT good. We usually drive 12 hours down to SC to hang with our friends once a year, but me thinks its going to be a twice a year trip now just for an excuse to come here again. 🙃 Staff was so nice and social. Will make the trip again just for Noods. 🙇🏻♂️
Our meal was fabulous and staff were great and helpful. Thank you for your service.P.S. to the gentleman Google user that complained with the picture 2 reviews down. You were very rude slamming your food at the staff and cursing at young ladies. I bet you feel real good about that. You should learn some manners and respect. Oh and I see that you always give 1 star because it is impossible to make you happy. Please stay a home if your going to complain about everything.
Overall we enjoyed the experience! Cool anime murals on the walls, and a pleasant diverse mix of people from the staff to the patrons. We tried the teriyaki/chicken steak bowl. Although it was tasty, the portion sizes were small for the price point imo. Still recommend that you try it.
Closing time today is 9PM. I joined the line to place a take out order at 8:15PM. After waiting patiently in line to order for about 12 minutes, and being the next to order, they told everybody that they “were taking no more orders, not even those in line”. Very disrespectful. Even when I made it clear I was just placing a small take-out order and had been waiting for a long time, they wouldn’t take it. Any normal restaurant would finish up those that have been waiting in line. A good way to get rid of your local clientele for good.I looked up the food inspections for this place afterwards. Among other things, the inspector found black build up around the ice machine, food preparation utensils in the handwashing sink (with no hot water), and sauce buckets on the floor. All of these things were not corrected during re-inspection. More signs they do not seem to take their customers seriously.
Authentic Japanese ramen. The anime was a tad over the top but didnt bother me. They have a last supper mural with anime characters, other anime wall art, and 4 or 5 different anime playing on various TVs.That said the food was delicious. Was my 1st time having authentic (at least afaik) ramen. The portion was so large I couldnt finish. The menu was slightly difficult but the person taking my order had no issues helping me decide and patiently explained the different options available.Chop sticks and American cutlery is available. The fact my wife and I went for lunch instead of dinner the night before because the place was packed and spilling out into the street should tell you about the food. Would definitely eat here again if I ever make it back to Savannah.
Stopped here for a quick lunch on a Tuesday... Wasnt sure of what to expect... But we loved it! Our food was great. The meat was so tender and veggies tasted like they had been marinated in the broth... So tasty! Even my picky 4 year old loved his bowl. The visual aesthetics alone will please any anime lover. Along with 4 different tvs playing anime as well. If youre downtown and just wanting to try something different give it a shot!
The ramen broth needed seasoning. After three or four, I lost count, of the little cups of soy sauce and garlic chili sauce it was good. Ordered pork buns but never got them. Asked once and they said the orders didn’t always come out at the same time, after eating our ramen we asked again and they offered to start making them!?? We got a refund and left disappointed…
Honestly the best Ramen shop Ive been to! Its one of my favorite places to go in Savannah, the vibes are great, the service is lovely, and the food is delicious for an amazingly fair price! Compared to some other Japanese restaurants Ive been to down town, the food holds up way better and much more consistently especially for its price. Spend less than $15 for a whole meal thatll leave you with left overs for the next day. :)
We came in with a group of 5 excited to try a new place that looked like it had some great food. We got a table and we quickly told to move because a family wanted to sit there and we still had people ordering at the counter. When we finally got to the counter the same lady looked directly at our friend who she told us it would be 15 min for a table and then walked away in the middle of our conversation. After she finally came back she told said we were only doing to go’s. Not even giving us a beat to discuss she already started waving people up and tried to push out out of the way. We were planning on doing TO Go and asked her why she was being so rude. When we called her out she just told us to leave. She should not be working there..
Wonderfully themed atmosphere for any anime fan and a great menu of food to go with it! If youre brave, you can attempt their special challenge to get your picture on the Spicy Ramen Hall of Flame! I went for seafood and vermicelli for the challenge, expect a lot to eat and tons of heat with this combo!
I took my boyfriend, who is an avid anime watcher, here for a date night and we loved it! The aesthetic is phenomenal with many different murals and other anime themed artwork throughout the restaurant. There was even different shows playing on the TVs in the restaurant. My boyfriend ordered the chicken ramen and I ordered the shrimp stir fry. Both plates were exceptionally good, as were the spring rolls (the chili dipping sauce was delicious). Next time we are in town this will definitely be our spot.
We have been looking forward to Yatai this entire week. A great sign of a quality restaurant is a long line throughout the week. Needless to say, we were not disappointed! The Ramen is outstanding! Even with it being take out, everything was amazing at the dinner table.
This is a wonderful place to eat if you enjoy waiting for long amounts of time! We waited about an hour for our food. When we asked when our food would be out, the waitress made excuses. (Ramen and fried rice doesn’t take an hour to cook) Countless tables were served before ours. The excuse? “ramen takes longer to cook” The food was alright, my stir fry was bland. Looks better than it tastes. The inside of the restaurant is for anime fans. However, the service is horrible. I won’t be visiting this restaurant again.
Took the family here it was good for the most part. My son got the pork dumplings and after tasting them did not like it and the cashier advised that since he tasted it he could not substitute the protein and it was about $10 to order meat only. The whole bowl was $12.
SO GOOD. The ramen noodles are something special, such a good texture. Everything I had was amazing. If you like spicy, go for the Mala broth. I didnt try the yakitori, but it looked delicious!Everything was also fairly cheap for just how much food you get ($2 for extra noodles? Yes please!).Going to come back again and try out the udon noodles and yakitori. The restaurant has a great vibe as well.Dont miss out on this place!
Two stars for their OK service. Waitress was kind and attentive at times, however, did not offer to bring spices to our table. Other than that, the food is nothing special. The chicken broth tasted like water in my opinion, the noodles were... well... noodles. And the chicken was pretty flavorless. I will say their vegetables are extremely fresh so that is a plus. My biggest complaint is the wait time. Oh my gosh. If you are hoping to be in and out of here within an hour...FORGET IT! My boyfriend and I arrived at 5:40. There was 4 people in line in front of us, cool. Except it took them about 25 minutes to get their order. We ordered our food at around 6:05. Didn’t get our food until 6:45!!!!! This is crazy to me. We’ve been to many many different restaurants and we’ve never had to wait this long. Especially not for RAMEN!!! I would be okay with it if the place would’ve been packed... but it wasn’t! Idk if they had too many to go orders or are understaffed, regardless I just wish the people taking your order would at least tell you there is THIS long of a wait! NOT WORTH THE WAIT TIME!
Delicious ramen! Huge portions. We all ordered different proteins and broths. All were devoured without complaints. Also ordered some appetizers, gyoza and a few other things. Also scrumptious. Very fun atmosphere with animé murals on the walls. Nice staff. We will definitely return when in town.
This was our second visit. On our first I felt the soup broth was bland or prepared 1/4 to 1/2 strength, not flavorful, but I was happy with my vegan entrée which contained tofu and vegetables. Last night was a disaster, although the staff were WONDERFUL and did their best to make things right. My fiancé talked me into going to Yatai straight from the beach despite my protesting I was wearing nothing but a bathing suit and a wet tank top. BAD NIGHT TO GO - they were slammed, and a meal that too 15-20 minutes to produce took about an hour. By this time I was absolutely starved, partly my fault because we took an extra-long beach walk and only brought snacks with us to the beach instead of lunch. I was so hungry I asked for dumplings ASAP, and forgot to tell them I wanted the vegetable type. They brought me the meat-filled ones which were absolutely disgusting, full of grey-looking processed meat. My fiancé enjoyed her meal but mine tasted like watery broth made with bitter-tasting vegetables. I came home hungry and ended up eating food I made at 8:30 at night. NEVER AGAIN.
If you show up right before 8:30pm prepare to eat your ramen elsewhere since they only do to go orders then. Simple idea, if you don’t want people eating there after 8:30 then close at 8:30 instead of 9pm like is posted in your door.Update:: they didn’t bother to give me any utensils to eat it with.
Let me start by saying that you dont need to squeeze four tbsps of siracha into your ramen. That said, there is nothing wrong with this place. The atmosphere is fun and nerdy. The noodle building process makes each bowl catered to taste. I admit that I feel the price was a bit high (probably because of the detached drink meeting added on), but I still visit regularly.
The place was really clean and well decorated, our food came out pretty timely as well. The reason why it’s a 3 star is because the ramen was okay and the lady working at the front taking orders was very rude. I brushed it off though because she might’ve just been stressed. It was my first time here and she looked kind of annoyed when I was undecided of my order. She didn’t give off a good impression of the place since I’m pretty sure there’s more to it. She then threw the pen at me to sign the receipt and at that point it was just inappropriate yikes
We were really excited, but we left a little bit dissapointed… the concept is really good, we love to try new things, but the food and the service not as good… we waited 45 min for 2 ramen, our ramen was cold and I didn’t dare to say something because I didn’t want to wait even more… ramen was ok but not to die for… if you are willing to wait that long and if you have the time you should try it! And no, they weren’t that bussy…
Came here on recommendation of a friend. The gyoza was PERFECT. The edamame was very heavily salted, which isnt my preference but thats okay. My noodles were undercooked and my dumplings in the ramen were cold :( Just kind of disappointed. The staff was nice and helpful. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day.
I /loved/ this place. My boyfriend and I came here for valentines day and customized our ramen bowls. We also got pork buns and the friend octopus balls. Everything was delicious, and the space it was in was so cool. The only thing is, it may be a bit pricey, but the food is absolutely worth it.
My wife and I are in Savannah visiting. We just finished dinner at this restaurant. The food was good, but my wife had problems with her bowl. To start, she asked for bok choy in her bowl. They prepared her bowl but never told her they were out of bok choy. she asked after receiving her bowl which is when they admitted to being out of it. They offered steamed broccoli to replace the bok choy but only brought out three small stalks. They did not offer a refund but if She had known they were out of key ingredient to her veggie bowl she would not have ordered it.
I love the build your own bowl option and the taste and service was great! I recommend adding the red pepper flakes to give it a bit of spice. I also have tried their spring rolls and mango mochi and loved it as well! Overall, I recommend trying them out, you wont be disappointed!
The decor was nice and themed well, but nothing is going to make up for taking 50mins to get a bowl of soup.... they couldnt even manage to deliver my wife and my food within 10 minutes of each other... super disappointed in the experience... food was mediocre at best btw. Plenty of other places in the area I wont be returning.
Excellent service, amazing food, and outstanding atmosphere. I will say this place is not for everyone. But, if you find yourself enjoying japanese food and culture this is the spot for you. The walls are lined with anime themed art. The are always playing anime on the TV, and the music always seems to be anime theme songs. I have tried nearly everything here from the ramen to the yakitori to the mochi and have never had something I didnt enjoy. Highly recommend.

2021-12-27We were a group of about 8, they said it was a 45min wait, but it was definitely quicker. And TOTALLY worth the wait. This is the best ramen I have ever had. And the fried rice is amazing!! I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone if you want some Japanese noodles. The Anime decor, painting, and even on the TV’s completes it all for me :D

2022-01-04Put one star because I had to but to be honest this place deserves zero. From the moment we arrived the service was bad, and the wait was more than 30 minutes. We ordered appetizers and came at the same time of the entries. The Ramen were cold and the fried noodles we not fried they were burned. The taste was horrible and couldnt finish any of our food. Dont waist your money nor time at that location.

2022-02-19Fun, eclectic ramen shop! You walk in and order ahead before finding a table. It is build your own ramen style! You can create it however you like it. The staff are friendly and helpful in going over the menu if you have questions. The food comes quickly. Not a big fan of the chairs as there is no back to them. It was a little loud and sensory overwhelming between the music and the amount of screens playing anime. Not complaining about the anime! I was beyond pleased to watch Fullmetal Alchemist while I ate. It was just a little loud. My ramen was amazing! I had tonkatsu leek and pork dumpling ramen. It was very yummy. The broth was so savory. The dumplings were amazing. I really enjoyed my visit to this fun little ramen place. Oh and PULL the door HARD to get in!

2022-07-05We love the atmosphere, it’s decorated with my childhood Japanese animations like Sailer Moon, Seven Dragon Balls, One Piece,…and Pokemon! I have to admit, I couldn’t get my eyes off their TV while enjoying the ramen. It’s less saltier compare with authentic Japanese ramen, but I like the twist personally. They also serve several Asian drinks like Calpico and Sake!

2021-10-20Holy cow... top notch Ramen! The hot condiments are quite hot and very flavorful. Went with the thin noodles and chicken. Super selection of Japanese drinks. Very nice staff and super cool atmosphere. Lots of fun and a great place for a quick ramen lunch.

2022-04-07First time ever going to a ramen food place. They make it super simple to order. You get to pick your broth, noodle and meat plus add ins for a dollar each. I got the chicken broth with ramen noodles and shrimp and my bf got the pork and beef broth with ramen noodles and the seafood option, which came with shrimp, mussels, and calamari. We also got some spring rolls as well. Everything was amazing. Would definitely come again.

2021-11-13On an extended trip from Brooklyn, NY, mixed race myself including Japanese, and came across this place while moseying around. Decor is phenomenal (definitely caters to a certain type of people), service was alright, food was alright (dont go off of the online menu, the actual location scaled back on menu items A LOT) & price was alright. Overall alright for the area (very limited ethnic options) but nowhere near authentic quality. Highly suggest adding ANY chile oil available to your food, improves the taste by a lot.

2022-06-27If you like a good ramen spot and you like anime, this place has it all. The walls have some good character art with the TVs playing your favorites and the overhead music being intro and outro songs from popular shows. Atmosphere on point. The food was great. Gluten-free and vegan options available as well. You build your bowl from a list of ingredients. Theres also hot sake. I will be back!
