Yoshi Express in other cities:
Been going there about once a week for a while now, and I dont plan to stop anytime soon. The cutlery may be plastic, and some of the seating may not be in great condition, but man is the food amazing. Chicken, Mushrooms, sweet carrots and a bunch of fried rice is a combo they do spectacularly well with. Im always full and satisfied when I leave. The staff is also very friendly, and even remembers my order since I go there so often😄.You go here for the food, and man is the food worth every penny.
If you like to be treated with respect as a customer, and a human being, do not eat at Yoshi Express. My friends and I went to Cleveland for a birthday weekend and tried out Yoshi Express for dinner yesterday. We decided to have the order delivered through Grubhub, but called and spoke with a restaurant employee to confirm that they received our rather large order and let them know about a dietary restriction one of the ladies had. Once our order arrived, we realized one sushi, the rainbow roll, was missing. I called the restaurant to let them know the situation, fully anticipating, and happily willing, to drive to the restaurant to get the missing roll. A lady answered the phone and I let her know what had happened. She told another lady who then loudly said give me the phone. A restaurant employee by the name of Mary got on the phone with me and I again explained we did not receive one of our rolls. The first thing Mary said to me is No. Youre wrong. You did not order the rainbow roll. I told her that both the Grubhub receipt, as well as my bank account, did confirm that we had ordered the sushi. The next seven minutes of the conversation turned into Mary screaming over me with every word I said. I could not get one word out without her yelling over me about being wrong. I have worked in restaurants before and just like how I began this conversation with Mary, I am never rude about my food orders being wrong because there is almost always an easy solution that both the restaurant and the customer are happy with. Maybe there was a glitch with the ordering system and Mary really couldnt see the rainbow roll we ordered...but Mary also could have just asked me to come by the restaurant and show her the receipt for the rainbow roll so that we could get this resolved. I did not deserve to be treated with such disrespect by Mary. When I tell you that I am not exaggerating about how I was treated, please believe me. Or you can read the previous Yelp reviews from customers that had similar situations. Even if Yoshi Express had the best food ever, if Mary is the owner, this restaurant is doomed. If Mary is an employee, she may need to find a different profession more fitting for her...personality.
The food was okay but the service should not be yelling while we are trying to eat. If we ask to sub noodles for rice dont tell us its not how to eat your food give us what we ask to pay for. What you serve is not (fried rice) so fix your advertising or your food you pick 😉 All in all not the best experience
I went to Yoshi because its been closed for a while from covid which I understand but I was very disappointed with this visit! They tried telling me their vegetables in the rice are always brown and its just the way they cooked them this time, When Ive been there many times and it has never looked like this! They were nasty! Their vegetables are always bright colors but this time they were mushy and gross! These are going bad, so obviously they are trying to use old product. If they had handled it better and not lied to me on the phone I wouldnt be on here. So just a warning to everyone else that will be eating there in the next few days. If you get the rice check your vegetables. Because they wont fix it.
My family and I came here after a track meet in the area. The place was clean and customer service was awesome! The food was good and the menu had plenty to choose from. Prices were very reasonable and portion size was good as well. It certainly wasnt a fine dining restaurant, but a small, quaint spot to grab a quick bite. I ordered sushi, my husband ordered vegtable hibachi and my son ordered salmon. We all got full and enjoyed our meal. It was the perfect spot for what we needed. If we return to this area, we will certainly come back!
Went to Yoshi Express on Fathers Day to get my husband some sushi. Have gotten sushi from her a lot. The person making the sushi got made that I ordered sushi without cucumbers because my husband does not like them. He was yelling and started cussing. I will not go back again
Ive always been dissatisfied with the quality of food from the restaurant. Im surprised its lasted all these years with lack of upkeep of furnishings and not having anything spectacularon the menu. Sushi never tastes fresh to me.Recent visit they told me the sushi bar is still closed since March due to COVID19.A little pathetic to not strive to keep serving the customers at their full potential when everyone else in town and in surrounding cities dont make excuses and keep serving. This place needs someone to invest back into making this place better instead of riding it out until it dies.
Staff is always friendly and welcoming to my little family... The servers always make a point to make us feel welcome and appreciated. My family and I have lunch here almost every weekend. Food is always good, just wish they had sushi all day instead of just certain times
Went and ate tonight (4/26/19). Seriously some of the best food weve ever eaten. Very friendly staff, very helpful. They made sure we were all taken care of and had everything we needed including refills. Food was very fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend for others to enjoy!!
I ordered shrimp and scallops which were fine if not too salty. My son ordered filet mignon which he nor I could chew. Very expensive for something you cant eat. The waitress was apologetic(not her fault). But cooks know what meat quality they are using. And its low quality .We will not eat here again.
Worst Chinese food ever! Carrots were cold. Spring rolls were nothing but spring roll wrappers there was literally nothing inside of them. The fried rice was never even close to fried. It took a grand total from ordering to getting the food of 2 minutes so it was obviously not cooked fresh. Absolutely horrible.
I placed an order for pick up. Staff wasnt very helpful or attentive. The steak in two of my plates was WAY overcooked after I specified medium rare and was burnt on one side. The chicken plate I ordered was mostly carrots, mushrooms and rice, maybe only 5 small pieces of chicken which were also overcooked. Very disappointed especially for the price. I wont be wasting my money here again and I recommended no one else does either.
Great Japanese cuisine. Dont expect a top dollar sit down environment. They serve with paper plates and plastic forks. The food is fantastic and I would definitely consider for a casual outing. Its never too loud and the Christian music they play is kept low enough to still carry on a conversation.
Always enjoy Yoshi... Im allergic to shrimp and they always clean the grill before cooking mine. So far so good at least. No reactions in the 10 plus times I have been. They are always nice... Even said bless you when I sneezed. I personally really appreciate that kind of thing.
This place is fantastic! Much better experience than I expected the first time I went. The service is always good, the restaurant is clean, the food is great, portion sizes are pretty good, and the price you get it all for is fabulous. Really great spot for college students! And they offer dine in or carry out options.
Great Sushi selection, some items never seen before; hard to get waited on , but once they came over service was really good .After I ordered mty sushi selection, came to me to let me know that they were done doing sushi for this part of day. Others were getting theirs at this time, so us and another person ; out of luck.Looking forward to going back to try some items that i noted!!
We eat here quite frequently. Its good food for a good price. But for the 2nd time in a row, we went tonight. My daughter ordered sushi AS HER MEAL. She ordered a side of fried rice. I ordered sushi as well just as an appetizer. There always 4 other tables of folks in there BEFORE we got there. 2 more came in after us. 45 minutes later we still didnt have our sushi. We were completely finished eating out supper and no sishi. My daughter had nothing but fried rice. We asked 25 minutes after ordering for them to check on it. They said he is running behind but it will be done soon, but because u had to wait Ill give u 10% off. 45 minutes later I told them to put my daughters sushi in a to go container and cancel mine. There was no apology and they did not give us 10% off our meal. The is the 2nd time we never got our sushi. I understand things happen or they get busy and run behind but they were not that busy. I watched them bring out 3 orders of sushi in 45 minutes. To me, that is unacceptable. Good food is only good when you get it.
Boy I tell you what. You guys need to show me how you do it. Every time I eat yalls sushi it melts in my mouth.Just the other day I caught rainbow trout and just to be sure I cut it up and ate it right then. I tell you it was fresh. The eggs the second had was good but the both of em were kinda fishy. Is your soaked first?...
The guy that makes the sushi rolls is the rudest person who has ever made me a sushi roll. I’ve never had an experience like that. I’ll not be back and I’m sure the guy I’m referring to is fine with that. I’m a little spooked about weather to it it or not since while the guy next to him was making mine, he reached over and changed part of my meat. Why ???
So me, my wife, sons and friend went Yoshi Express today on 11/03/19 and when we arrived there was a mother couple in here. But they left shortly after we arrived. So we got our food and then went without a drink for 30 minutes before someone (not our waitress) refilled our drinks. Turns out our waitress had Left the restaurant while we was here. And two gentlemen was delisting at a table on a computer. So then the cook came out of the kitchen and was cussing using the F-Word until he saw us here and my kids was with me. Not a place I would recommend. I’ve been here many times before and not sure if I’ll be back. So be warned.
Yhis is my favorite restaurant in Cleveland. Great food and great staff. Always nice and professional also. Their new cook is really very good also.Everyone is nice and pleasant and efficient also. The place is kept clean also they get 5 stars all around. Eat here at times 3 or 4 days I. A week. They treat us very good..great place for families Also. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO DINE. THEY ARE WORTH 5 STARS I. MY OPINION.
Where do I begin. First they must not believe in AC in that place my family and I started pouring sweat half way through the meal. Next the little young waitress was one of the most rude and disrespectful people Ive ever met. Then when I took my kids to use the bathroom they look as if they hadnt been cleaned in a week. All around horrible place to eat and take a family to. Lastly to top it off when I went to pay that same rude girl that took my order didnt even get my change right. I told her she didnt give me the right change and she was acting like I was a liar.
Horrible food and service and the place was filthy! My boyfiend and I went to Yoshi Express tonight and should have turned around and walked out when we first walked in and noticed 6 booths had not been cleaned. There were 5 different menus to order from and all were curled and covered with food stains. The spring rolls we ordered came out about the size of a cigarette and were served n a flimsy styrofoam bowl. Our drinks were also brought out in styrofoam cups, (which was fine), except that both of them had been written on, with an ink pen, around the mouth of the cup. Super strange! The waitress sat a large container of yum yum sauce on our table and we couldn’t help but notice that it had a gross build-up around the top, some sauce slowly oozing down the side of the container and the ridges on the ring on the white lid had dirt (most likely from human hands) stuck all in it. The chicken fried rice came out served on a disposable plate and we and we were given a plastic fork to eat with. The food itself was absolutely disgusting! The rice had no taste whatsover and appeared to be old. The chicken was alright but the dish was served with cooked canned carrots which was odd to me. We could barely eat our food it tasted so bad and when we decided to leave, couldn’t get the watress to bring us our check. We had to walk up to the counter and ask for it. WE’LL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN!
Food is ok, employees playing on phones, not good service. Tables were dirty. Sat at one table had sticky stuff all over it. Tried to wipe down with napkin, it just stuck to table, employees saw this and I moved to another table and they left it like that to go play on their phones again. Very disappointed. There were only 5 people eating at lunch time, so they werent busy.
I FOUND A ROACH! The most dirty restaurant I’ve been to in my life. The moment we walked in it was like a heat wave hit us, As we walked over to sit at a booth we found that they were stained and extremely dirty. Next we went to a table to sit down but found that they too were sticky and unclean. To make matters much worse, as I walked to the bathroom I found a HUGE, LIVE, ROACH crawling around! It was at least the size of my hand. I will never go back.
I made an order at 6:52pm and I was told it would be ready between 20-25 minutes. I arrived after 7:30pm and they couldn’t find my order, after shuffling through some pending orders they then told me it would be another 30-40 min. I then told the employee to cancel my order and she didn’t seem to care about my business. Poor customer service!

2021-09-28Smh. Well this was a terrible experience. Our first visit. Staff very overwhelmed!! Lady taking order could not handle customers carry outs and call ins at all. We watched her end up hanging up on two callers while we ordered. We ordered steak and chicken w/fried rice no onion. Side of zucchini no onion. The chicken and steak. Zero flavor. Had to put a lot of yum yum sauce on it. Now. The zucchini....lmao. we got onions with a side of zucchini. Remember we ordered with NO onion. And she even repeated it back.. we literally got 9 pieces of zucchini and a ridiculous amount of onions. Needless to say. Will will never go back. Theres not a lot like this out here in Cleveland, and we just moved out here. So Im sure this will not affect locals. But anyone passing through. You should just avoid this place!!!

2022-03-05Been here a couple of times with a decent experience. One time to ruin that. I get we have a shortage of workers but when I see a waitress talking it up with a table for 5 minutes and we havent even been greeted or given menus in 15 minutes of waiting. Finally was told someone would get us. He leaves and starts checking out the pick up orders... I guess in order to get service just call and pick it up.

2022-04-09I am surprised people would ever set foot in this place more than once and especially to order sushi which is known to be a risky food. This place was filthy. The dining area, the bathroom, the hallway. All of the booths are torn open with all the stuffing coming out and it was just plain dirty. The hibachi food was very greasy. Will not go back. Its a shame because we could really use a good Asian place in this area

2022-01-29If you are looking for tourist sushi rolls you will find them well done here. Yes, theres too much spice, yes too much cream cheese, yes too much Kewpie mayo (if thats possible) and its all good. Expect the sushi orders will take a little more time for preparation and enjoy.
